Rivero has pledged to give the LCSO a new face and one with a smile dediucated to community service. One that has a new look a new attitude and a new philosophy of professional law enforcement, open, friendly and transparent. He has promised to reorganize the department and establish a firm and clear chain of command where each deputy knows who they report to. He had promished to impliment a community policing program which other departments have successfully adoped 20 years ago.

For those of you in the LCSO. You are on the ground floor of change which is going to be beneficial for your careers. You will receive on going training and fair and reasonable supervision. They days of witch hunts, knit picking and micro management will soon come to an abrupt end. Pay close attention and take advantage of this opportunity for change, its good for us all. You will never have it with Rodney Mitchell and his archiac idea of how a department should be run.

Unfortunately the Dinius case will be settled out of Court. An we the taxpayers will be paying for Mitchell and others misdeeds. I believe that Mitchell and his gang should be in prison today, for violating Dinius civil rights. Talk about abuse of power by Mitchell. Mitchell keeps make the same mistakes over an over.
 

You can say that Rivero has made a lot of promises and he has a lot of ideas, how can he possibly fulfill them. Easy, his ideas are based on common sense leadership and sound management practices. So many of these good ideas cost nothing other then the time it takes to reorganize a department which is currently in shambles. He has ideas for change, Mitchell has none and he promised four more years of the same old thing or worse.
 

I am asking for help with the truck stop at Hwy29 and 20 in Upper Lake. For months the owner said he would support Rivero and place a sign on his property. Yesterday I noticed a Mitchell sign so I went in. The owner was not there but an employee said he was pressured by some deputies to put the Mitchell sign up.

I do not want to see a boycott of the business because the owner is just a pawn being manipulated by Mitchell's GOB's. I am just asking for everyone to stop by and contact the owner. Ask him about why the Mitchell sign is there and tell him of Mitchell's actions. Lets see if we can get him back on Rivero's side or protect him from the GOB's. Again, no threats or boycott, just give him the facts. If he still wants the Mitchell sign to stay than leave him alone.

The owner of the Chevron truck stop is a good man. He allowed all those running for office to post their signs on his property. I know he is not a Mitchell supporter and isn't this pressuring by the Mitchell thugs typical. They are scared as well they should be.

Rivero needs to ask him if he too can post a sign and do so right next to Rod's. I will definately talk to this man and suggest he allow everyone to post a sign just as he did before. I ask you not to boycot these people, this is business here in Lake County and we need it. What we don't need is Rod Mitchell and his politically and morally corrupt regime.

I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of Mitchell and his thugs tearing down or stealing signs in the next two months. They did it before. They will be plastering the county with their signs and intimidating good citizens and businesses to put them up. When Mitchell's thugs come to you get their names and let Lovelace know who they are. If you see someone removing signs, anyone's signs write down their license number and description. Call the Sheriff who will rudely ignore you and kiss it off but also notify Lovelace. Beat them at their own game only in this case the truth will be known.
 

1235 - I think Rod will do some phony slip and fall in his office and try to slither out on a tax free medical retirement. We all know he is going to be voted out in November and he'll have no job. I don't think his so called friends, GOB's and special interests here in Lake Co. are going to come to his aid with a job.

Will he move back to Sacramento where no one knows him? who can say. He boasts about how much he loves Lake Co. but we all know he loves himself more. If he can't use us he's gone and good riddance. Think of all the husbands and wives in Sacramento who don't know you so you can cut a wide swath through the stay at home moms.
 

Attention all Mitchell supporters. When he gets kicked out of office are you all going to get together to help support your boy? Maybe he can mow lawns or wash cars. That takes no leadership or management skills as long as you don't make him get up and come in before 10: AM.
 

I have noticed alot of Mitchell signs on rental properties in the Cobb area. How nice, The renters would have to contact the property owners to insure this was allowed. I have been a renter for several years and the last thing I want to do is contact my Landlord/Landlady for this purpose.
 

I went to Don Anderson's campaign kickoff for DA at Blue Lakes on Saturday. A very interesting note was that the Sheriff's patrol boat was cruising back and forth past the Lodge where it could be conspicuously seen. This fact was noticed by a number of people including several who live at Blue Lakes and said they had never seen the LCSO boat in the lake unless someone drowned. Mitchell's politics.
 

Please do not steal or vandalize any of the candidate's political signs. That's a Mitchell trick and we are above that. Mitchell has sunk his own boat and it's just a matter of time before we are rid of him once and for all. Tell your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to vote for Frank Rivero and let's reclaim our SO for the people.
 

When is Mitchell going to come out and make some public statement and stop relying on his supporters to do the spin and spreading of false rumors for him.

I would like to see both candidates for Sheriff come out with a health statement showing they will be able to serve us for the next 4 years. Something to show they have no major disease, no major disabilities which could keep them from doing their job, no heard disease, BP etc.

Both these guys are about the same age, 50+ which should be their prime. Rivero looks to be in good health but let the doctor give his blessing. Mitchell looks fat and puffy and has aparently been sitting on his duff to long. We hear rumors of high blood pressure and cholesterol, stress and the use of anti-depressants and diet pills. True or not, let the doctor say.
 

Who is going around shooting red paint balls at Mitchell signs. Is that to represent the blood of Lynn Thorton that covers Mitchell.
 

I've heard where Rod Mitchell boasts about being such a hot shot deputy for four years yet his peers have described him as the guy who always showed up when things were over. As a Sergeant he says he started SWAT, was an FTO, a Detective and a field supervisor all in three years. How many SWAT calls could he have handles, how many new officers could he have trained, how many criminal cases could he have investigated or solved all the three years. This guy is either Superman or a fraud. Seven years on the job does not make a good supervisor and darn sure doesn't make a Sheriff.

Experience as a Safeway box boy or a Sac Co. reserve does not give you management experience. My point is he had no more experience then Rivero only fewer ideas and he was elected to Sheriff. He did began his political career early with the practice of dirty tricks and intimidation which he continues to use to this day.

Lets go for new ideas and change and hope for the best. Mitchell has had his chance and he failed repeatedly so it's time for new blood.

The Mitchell campaign kick-off was a great success serving 30 tri-tips and over 200 hot dogs to staunch supporters and many new voters as well. Over 200 people attended.

How many Deputies have been let go in the last 5 years, any one have a count? I know of at least one that went to Mitchell himself and Kathy Ferguson with Human Resources requesting help with Alcohol related issues. They were turned down by both, Thats right, with the Mitchell regime, throw them to the wolves, now matter what they have to offer for the citizens of the county.
 

I know of one who was having severe mental health issues and considering suicide. He called in asking for help and was told to man up and go to work. They had no interest is his pleas for help. Thank heaven he didn't kill himself not that it would have mattered to them.

When a person is considering suicide that's a call for help and one to be taken seriously not to be laughed off. This type of treatment is the Rod Mitchell way and they failed to do the right thiings and losr one more deputy.

We had heard the Mitchell is starting to go off the deep end at the office, there are a number of confirmations of this activity from the inside, and we just got a message discussing this very thing, it appears it is now "duck and cover" in the SO. What a shame, it would be wiser if Mitchell just held up the white flag, and pulled out of the election, what is going to be coming out from Mitchell employees in the near future does not paint a pretty picture. We wish that we could have started this action sooner, it may have helped a lot of SO's who do to a lack of compassion and caring, due to a lack of good understanding HR people,this organization has ruined more good cops lives then is believable. 99% of it preventable. I am one who has become disillusioned with Rod Mitchell. I was once a supporter of his and voted for him in the past. As time passed I saw things change and the man has changed. I can actually see many of the negative descriptions made in him now. Since the incident with Perdock and Dinius it's been one mess up after another.

I don't know Rivero but I have heard him on the radio. I don't know if he's the best man. I don't think his police experience is that much but then Rod's wasn't either. Can Rivero actually run that agency if he's elected with the experience of lack of experience he has? How is he going to rebuild years of mistakes by Rod and keep the promises he's making? I wish him the best and he will have my vote but I worry.

Lets look at what the Indian's were willing to do. They were going to authorize a grant for Mitchell to construct another wing to the jail. This is a major savings for LCSO, but instead Mitchell refused it. They were also willing to handle additional calls off the rancheria to help the deputies but Mitchell said no.

What is the problem Mitchell? Why are you such a racist. Lets forget the Lande/Rivero/Ringen thing for a second and look at racism at another angle. Robinson has BIA police officer (not Tribal Police). They are police officers working for BIA, not the tribe. You refuse to allow those officers access to booking prisoners, access the county radio system or use the state computer system (all agencies must go through LCSO for access to the system). But your neighbor at the Mendocino Sheriff's have no problem with the BIA cops. In Mendo, the BIA cops book in the county jail, have full access to all radio channels, has state computer access and even handle calls in the town of Hopland. Now that's using resources and saving money.

Why do you put the Indian's down. Why are you so racially against BIA cops doing their job?

I saw Frank Rivero in my neighborhood today, chatting with folks and handing out signs....wow, there were so many on Bear Valley Rd. I couldn't believe it! Anyway, I took the time to ask him about his leave of absence from the job. I feel really good about his answer...He is willing to go without a salary to devote each and every day (except the two weeks his happy family went to Disneyland together to rest up from the primary!) to ensuring the voters that he really wants to improve the county for us all. I'm sure glad he wants the job, because it's gonna start out as a lot of cleaning up to do in order to move forward in a better direction. Oh, and he's entitled to keep his healthcare and benefits, but decided to buy his own health care and so on, so as not to offend the voters by having county funds spent on him when he wasn't working. What a person of integrity! He has my vote.
 

I heard that Rivero's Dad was a patent attorney in Cuba, and that he was persecuted by the Castro regime, and that's why they fled. His sister is a Dr., and he graduated first in his Police Academy class and has patrol and narcotics experience at SFPD, in addition to knowing enough about LCSO to sweep up. Twenty years as a business owner, and he's licensed by the U. S. Coast Guard, is a Merchant Marine Officer, and CA licensed Funeral Director. If he is as bad as some of the GOB's want you to think, why has he received 25 Captain's Commendations and the Police Chief Commendation for Exemplary Police Work in SF?? Huh?? I think they are afraid of minorities or something....oh, yeah, and he's bilingual. How nice would that be??? What can they say good about Rod Mitchell??????
 

Mitchell knows that he is done in the North lake and the hwy 20 corridor from Spring valley to Pillsbury, he lost in Middletown, and he will lose in the city of Clearlake, he lost K-ville and will again, there is nothing left for Mitchell, he can only go to a couple of areas and that is it. Asking that CHP so the Dinius investigation is silly, that's not their expertise however, if they had conducted an investigation like any other free of interference things may have been different. Had they maintained a good clean chain of evidence and interviewed all the witnesses things may have been different. Had the official reports not been ordered changed by Mitchell and his thugs things may have been different. Now it's to late to change that but it's not to late to change the way the LCSO is run by voting Mitchell out and Rivero in.

Many people on this blog are hypocrites mostly on the Mitchell team. Many are just windbags on both teams. Politics brings out all kinds but the basic discussion is a good thing and helps to let us all know whats going on. That is exactly what this blog has done. Like it or not it's worked and people are paying attention. Some serious issues have been put up here and people are asking good questions.

Separating the two sides is not difficult but getting the answers seems to be. Rodney Mitchell has much to answer for and his past performance and recoord have caused people to look very close at him and his office. People are looking for change in these difficult times and they want accountability, something we've not had under Mitchell.

Rivero offers us changeand responsible leadership. He offers us accountability and transparency along with reorganization and a new frientlier service oriented department. Now what's wrong with that?

The old saying, well we've always done things that way just doesn't wash. Ignoring the problem and covereing up mistakes just don't work anymore. We want change and a new SO we can be proud of.

Fact is there was a substancial amount of money left to SAR through a trust. Mitchell is the Trustee and took that money using it for his own purposes. This way he can purchase equipment using someone elses money and not go over budget as he brags. The money was specifically designated for SAR not SWAT or any other law enforcement purpose. My using that money for other purposes then it was intended Mitchell has misappropriated funds. You know Mitchell supporters, that means he stole the money.

It is Mitchell and his boys, Rhodes was at Mitchell's kick-off function the other day, and he is looking more and more like a GOB. Some had thought if he could stay away from these guys he may have a chance with his criminal justice experience, but this is the wrong path for him to take. He is communicating with not only Mitchell by Hopkins as well and we don't like the sound of this. We don't need another Hoppy back in the DA spot, and it does not look like Rhodes is heading down the right path right now. So our original endorsement of Anderson looks to be the right move.
