Frank is doing fine and well. He, his wife and son live under the same roof. Frank has never been accused of cheating (unlike Mitchell). Sure he separated but they got back together.

As for Esburg, you might want to review your records. She was moved from the jail and placed in the main office two years ago (next to Marybeth) while Howe took over the jail. This was way before Perdock was placed on Admin Leave.

It appears that Mitchell has no respect for female employees unless he can get something.
Someone needs to tell Mitchell that it's 2010, not 1950. I can see promoting a qualified female to Captain and having her supervise Deputies, but why would he promote an unqualified one?
All sexual harassment complaint must be investigated period, under Federal Law.

Tony Jarvis is the name of the contractor that was beat up by two deputies on Rob Brown's property. It' seems Rob wouldn't pay Jarvis for work he had done. Jarvis was guilty of trying to remove the work he had installed. Rob called the sheriff and had Jarvis taken to jail. Jarvis was charged and spent a year in jail. His wife, at trial, yelled at the Judge and Rob Brown and was charged with threatening a public official and she too spent a year in jail. Both have now been recently released. If anyone knows the names of the two deputies please post them here. I would bet it's no surprise who they are.
Jarvis has a family and lives in Kelseyville He has lost a year of his life and income. If someone needs some work done call Jarvis and give him a try. Let's join in against the fight to rid Lake Co. of the Good old Boy system. Rob, why don't you just pay your bills?
 

8:30 reading on this site that two deputies beat up a contractor, then my guess is what really happened is a whole lot different. I think the motto here should be don't confuse a good story with the truth. Sounds like Jarvis was convicted of a felony that with time off for good behavior was released after only a year ( if even that is true) would be interesting to know what really happened.
 

Hoppy was not at the crime scene giving the murder suspect a big hug. Hoppy was not the one who gave the order not to cover for perdick boozing at konocti. hoppy was not the one who gave the order to hide the fact the lights on the sailboat were on. Rodney you got some splaining to do!!!

I think the mysterious email that turned up to the board of supervisors on the day they were looking into garzoligate is going to come back and haunt rockin rodney, just to much perfect timing on that one, of course our board of supervisors just buys into it and you can bet Rob was well aware of what happened on that deal, imagine the amount of manipulation Brown has but over on the other BOS members over the years protecting Mitchell, this government is a joke.

Despite always trying to instill in others that what people think of
you doesn't matter as long as your doing the right thing, I found that
for me it does matter and it hurt to hear these things. I care what
others think of me, especially you , my boss. Add to that weekly BOS
meetings where I am the topic of discussions that often times include
blatant misrepresentations of things such as commercial drivers
licenses & special flight suits etc. severely impact my character
and ability to do my job. It is hard enough to face the problems you
did cause and even harder to accept criticism for things that are
patently incorrect. Saturday nite at the fair I had an encounter with
(name redacted by RKM) where he treated me exceptionally rude &
disrespectful followed by another person referring to the publicity
surrounding me and saying he could pull a gun on me right now and if I
defended myself I'd be the one to go to jail.

radio and the host was a career coach. I have been dwelling on my
situation for months now and decided to call in and ask what a person
with my skills could do outside law enforcement. Rather than the host
simply answering my question he unexpectedly dug into my job status.
Because of my embarrassment and inability to accept responsibility for
the fact that this was all my own doing my knee jerk reaction was to
place blame elsewhere, causing you further problems.
"...If I am ever to find my way again in law enforcement I need to
learn why I handled things the way I did and why I got so wrapped up in
"blind ambition" despite plenty of warnings that this could happen.
"In closing I want to sincerely apologize for everything I have done to
you and put you through. None of it was intended to hurt you or your
position yet it did and I am sorry for that. I assure you I will not
address this issue further with anyone for any reason and I will
continue to try and do the best I can.

Actually Garzoli is something, look at the totality of the situation. If Mitchell was doing his job as a Sheriff, he would have noticed something was going on with not only this incident, but many many others.

Anthony Jarvis was arrested for DUI (not his first). In jail he could not afford bail so he made a deal with Brown. Brown paid his bail and Jarvis had to dig a septic tank (Jarvis owns a backhoe business).

A few weeks later Jarvis was drunk and demanded that Brown pay him or he would dig the septic tank back up. Brown told him not to enter his property and not to call unless Jarvis was sober.

Well a few hours later, Jarvis drives his backhoe from his house, past the high school, onto Hwy29 and onto Brown's property. Brown confronted Jarvis and told him to leave. Jarvis refused and started to dig up the septic tank. Brown pulled Jarvis off the tractor and held him for police. He was not been beaten by the cops.

CHP arrived and arrested Jarvis AGAIN!!! for DUI. Brown did not press charges for trespassing.

Sept. 2, Garzoli sent Mitchell an e-mail apologizing for his use of the
helicopter. On the same day the county discussed an audit of Garzoli's
helicopter use, someone released the sergeant's e-mail to the Board of
Supervisors.
"I took that e-mail from Dave as he was accepting
responsibility related to his operation of the helicopter," Mitchell
said. "Anyone who has context who sees anything other than that is
devoid of logic."
The supervisors would not say where they got the e-mail.
Supervisor Rob Brown said he didn't want to compromise the
county, taxpayers or a criminal or civil case by expressing his opinion
of the e-mail.

I'll bet if the truth were known Mitchell told him if he took the wrap for the helicopter scandel that he could keep his job and would be promoted back to Lieutenant when the heat was off. Ha, the jokes on you Garzoli for believing anything Mitchell would ever say. When it's all said and done Mitchell is responsible for the entire Garzoli incident.He was well aware of what was going on with the DEA grant and the helicopter program. He knew Garzoli was taking flying lessons on public time and money and he lied about it as usual putting all the blame on the schmuck.

Typical of Rod Mitchell he demotes a man for alleged wrong doing, transfers him to Lake Pilsbury to protect the rocks, publicly humiliates him then turns around and fires him for something that has nothing to do with nothing. Just another case of a Mitchell witch hunt until he could find something to screw an employee for. His email sin was really no big deal and had nothing to do with police work.

Again the make a big deal out of the little things and go out of their way to ignore the big things that should be investigated. Mitchell management at its best.
 

Dod Mitchell order an IA on the deputies or Sergeants who threatened Garzoli? How about insubordination on their part? Of course not because Garzoli was now a political liability and had caused Mitchell some heat.
 

Those who doubt the email is real should ask Garzoli himself. I suspect that when he sues for his job back or for unfair treatment by Mitchell the truth of how he was intimidated will come out. How about his promising not to fire him then doing a witch hunt for something else to can him for.

Remember Mitchell gave the letter to the new media saying that Garzoli had given him permission to do so. If Mitchell is nothing else he is slick but it always comes back to bite him on his fat butt.

As a public employee and elected public official you need to develop some more tolerance. Consider embracing the people here who in most cases are exposing the ugly truth about Lake County politics. If you and your fellow supervisors had not turned a blind eye to Mitchell's mismanagement and lies our county would not be in the stop its in today. You people should have reined in that nut case long ago.

LAKE COUNTY – A former sheriff's sergeant whose employment with the Lake
County Sheriff's Office ended earlier this month has filed a claim for
damages against the county.

Sacramento Attorney Dan McNamara filed the
claim against the county on Tuesday on behalf of his client, David
Garzoli, 43.

Garzoli spent 20 years with the sheriff's
office before his employment ended May 12, as Lake County News has
reported.

McNamara, who previously indicated that
Garzoli planned to fight the loss of his job, offered no comment on the
claim, which was submitted Tuesday to the clerk of the Board of
Supervisors.
Garzoli is seeking damages in excess of $10,000, including attorney fees and
costs in regard to what his claim characterizes as “wrongful employment
actions” by the county.

The claim alleges that the Board of
Supervisors and Mitchell violated Penal Code Section 832.7 – which
protects peace officer personnel records – by publicly discussing
Garzoli's time cards and rate of pay, which came up during the
dissemination of audit findings related to a Drug Enforcement
Administration (DEA) grant.
Garzoli's claim said he has been
deprived of his constitutional rights, which in turn has created “a
hostile working environment, embarrassment and humiliation that he has
had to endure and will continue to endure when he attempts to find other employment.”

Public disclosure of Garzoli's private
information “exceeded the scope of what would reasonably occur in the
course and scope of employment,” with McNamara's filing accusing the
county of “intentionally or negligently” inflicting emotional distress
on Garzoli by releasing the information.

“Dissemination of the
personal details of his administrative process will severely impact his
ability to seek employment in his desired profession,” the filing
states.

According to the claim, Garzoli has suffered emotionally and physically as a result of the disclosure about his
case.

“He has been treated for high blood
pressure. These physical manifestations of the severe emotional distress caused by Lake County employees and representatives provides the basis
for the negligent infliction of emotional distress,” the claim stated.
 

It is a shame. Mitchell is an elected official, who is supposed to answer to the people. Unfortunately, this is so far from the truth that it stinks. Mitchell refuses to answer to the people.

Mitchell fired so many deputies and managers since the Dinius case but he goes and does the same thing he fired the deputies for.

You may not like Rivero and refuse to talk with him, but Rivero brings change and it is badly needed. If Rivero doesn't work out, than maybe someone with some clout will run against him in four years.

After a few days we'll all come back together in a civil, well informed way and watch Rivero be swept into office by a landslide.
 

You can use all the names you would care to but the fact is not all are dopers,liars or cheats. We that post take sight at what is going on in this county and we voice our views. Some of it might be over the top but would bet most of the information would be on the mark with most of the bureaucrats in this local government. See, I told you Garzoli was going to sue for his job plus damages and he'llwin. We'll end up having to take him back until Rod can make up another trumped up charge against him. Perhaps he can dredge up Rhonda Ruly again and use her.

Garzoli is a smart kid who had potential and enthusiasm. What he lacked is proper training and supervision. Like so many others he was allowed to run amok and his mistakes were ignored by Mitchell. If the court directs the county to take Garzoli back and Rivero is Sheriff I think you'll see him get the training andf supervision he never received from Rod. He and the others will be held accountable but will be treated fairly. A totally new concept in the LCSO.
 

What happens when kkklint shows up at a Rivero event to cause a disturbance. Will the LCSO respond to do their jobs or will they be to busy serving the old weanie to the public at Rod's hotdog sale.
 

kkklint is a coward and a bully just like Rod and his boys. They do well approaching from the rear but won't go face to face. The gang of backstabbers now runs the LCSO but things will soon change.
 

Who was the deputy that threatened Brian Stole to not testify? Would this be Witness tampering and if found guilty result in a very long prison term.

Garzoli saw himself as a future sheriff and police scientist much like Rod's new goldenboy and brown noser Bryan martin. He too will be tossed over the side of the boat when Rod has no further use for him. He wants to eliminate marijuana eradication? Once again a person who only listens to rumors. He will keep going after eradication in the forests but he will no waist time on small time growers in homes specially since that entire law might be overturned in November.

The substations that are hardly manned. Or the substations that have no management oversight. Oh or how about the Lucerne substation? I pass it every day and never see it open and I think I saw a cop their twice.

Any deputy can take a leave of absence, paid or not. In the long run, if you have a problem with that, you should talk to Mitchell because HE AUTHORIZED IT!!

I would imagine he took time off to campaign because he knew the talk of some of the Deputies who said they wouldn't back up Rivero on calls or they would take their time getting to the call in the hopes that something would happen to Frank. I am just curious, How come Rivero took a leave of absence from the SO to run for Sheriff. Has he come out and said he was fearful of his safety if he continued to work? As far as a concern for his safety if he continued this may be a valid issue. We've seen what Mitchell's gang of thugs has had to say. I have personally heard from two deputies who may be GOB's that is Rivero were to call for assistance they would ignore the call or have a mysterious flat tire on the way. Comments like this are inexcusable and reason for termination. Anyone who would refuse to assist another officer calling for help would be ostracised by his peers anywhere else and would carry a negative jacket for the rest of their career. This is a major no no as it should be. They would be considered a coward.

As most all of you know we have some huge issues with sheriff Mitchell, your county is dire shape right now and there is much on the wind that is going to continue to effect Mitchell's ability to run his department. We are lucky as a county that the election is just a couple of months away, and the first days in office for the newly elected officials will be January 1st 2011. If as citizens you look at the recent long and drawn out posts from those people who are left supporting Mitchell, you are seeing the last desperate attempts at attacking Frank Rivero, we are asking you to see clearly the desperation and fear that is in these peoples minds. They are, you will notice not supporting the actions and record of sheriff Mitchell but instead have choosen the only course of action they have left and that is attacking another candidate. We know this is a sad display, but we wanted you the public to see what tactics they have fallen to. As you have seen in the past during the primary, the actions with Rhonda Rully and the false claims that Mitchell allowed to be filed where at best untoward and possibly a criminal act by filing a false claim against and officer, yet sheriff Mitchell has not requested of the DA that he file charges against Rully. We are asking the public and those good Deputies who are communicating with us to hang on, the time is drawing near, for a new start in our county. When I worked for the Department I put at least 200 to 250 miles on my car with several reports needing to be written in a ten hour shift. I have a close friend who is very well respected in California law enforcement who worked for state parole. He is of Cuban descent and came to this country many years before the Rivero family. His family settled in south Florida then he relocated to California. He tells me the Cuban expatriot community to this day is a close knit group where everyone knows the old folks. I mentioned Rivero to him and he told me he is award of the Rivero family who was in the Mortuary and funeral business in Cuba before escaping to the US. He said the family is very well known and respected in the Cuban community. He also said they have never been a part of any criminal enterprise or even suspected of such activities.

So, those of you who think Rivero is the local Cuban cigar connection who smuggles in illegal cigars in his keester are wrong. Sorry boys you'll have to get your cigars somewhere else or switch to White Owls or Havatampa....
 

Message to Lake County citizens from the Lovelace group: This message comes from the concerned citizens of Lake County, we have grown into the thousands and we are asking and seeking the support and understanding of the public who are concerned about the activities and actions associated with Sheriff Mitchell, we are asking the public to look at the history of sheriff Mitchell and join us in the cause of change and transparency in our county legal and government systems. We can choose to go down the same worn path of corruption and deception or we can as a community come together for positive change and action that brings about that change. Here is a brief rundown of Sheriff Mitchell's record.

1. Dinius, this incident resulted in the death of Lynn Thorton killed by a motor boat driven by Sheriff's deputy Russell Perdock and close confidant of sheriff Mitchell. While traveling in excess of 40 miles an hour in the middle of a dark night Perdock ran over a sailboat and killed Lynn Thorton, sheriff Mitchell working in collusion with Jon Hopkins conspired to bring charges against the man at the tiller of the sailboat and pressed no charges against deputy Perdock.
The results: A current civil federal lawsuit has been filed, naming Mitchell and Hopkins as defendants. Perdock has been fired from the sheriffs department, this despite the fact that Mitchell hugged Perdock on the dock the night of the accident, took no blood alcohol PAS tests and conspired to cover up Perdocks actions in the accident.

2. Garzoligate, Sheriffs deputy Garzoli, crashed a helicoptor while performing illegal training using public money while contending he was looking for pot grows in the forest. Garzoli sent a fake e-mail to the Board of Supervisors trying to cover for Mitchell and his knowledge of the illegal activities Garzoli was undertaking.
The results: Garzoli was fired by Sheriff Mitchell and Mitchell has yet to confirm he knew of the flying and the illegal use of public funds for that training.

3. Infidelities: Sheriff Mitchell was confronted by Dennis Bramlett on public radio during the primary debates with Frank Rivero, Mr. Bramlett asked Mitchell to admit he had an affair with his wife and Mitchell refused to do so. Mr Bramlett had a recorded conversation with Mitchell's wife and informed her of the activities of her husband. Mitchell refuses to admit to the activities even though Bramlett's wife and others confirmed his activities.
The result: Now allegations have surfaced that this has been an ongoing and consistent activity that Mr. Mitchell has engaged in, and he has destroyed many families in doing so. Currently Mr. Mitchell will still not admit to these activities.

4. In the past 8 months the Sheriffs department has lost or will lose at least 8 deputies due to activities unbecoming of an officer, or individuals that sheriff Mitchell has gone after for not covering for him and his activities. Deputy's Beland, Moreshed, Wright, Smith, and many others have fallen to the organizational chaos that is in our sheriffs office under the leadership or lack of leadership by Mitchell.

The list goes on and on, and we ask you the citizens to vote your conscious and explore not only these incidents but the myriad of others that are the written record of this poor and out of touch sheriff. 1151 - Doesn't it seem curious that the LCSO under Rod Mitchell has to fire so many duputies, CSO and civilian staff? These terminations are not restricted but go all the way to the top. These is no mention of the employees who are fed up with Mitchell's incompetance, arrogance and harassment that they quit on their own just to get away from this guy.

I wonder how many other LE agencies have a similar record of terminations per capita to that of Rod Mitchell.

The question is: Are all these people being terminated, criminals, incompetant or just bad Cops? Were they given the proper training and supervision and just couldn't cut the mustard? Isn't that what a probationary period is for? OR, could there be something else going on here. Could this abnormally high rate of terminations be due to management failure, lack of training and supervision and a lack of proper leadership on the part of the Sheriff? Could this also be Mitchell ruling with an iron hand and eliminating anyone who argues, disagrees or doesn't see things his way? Does that remind anyone of the Hitler, Stalin dictorial management accept they would shoot you.

1152 - Martin has shown himself to be a backstabbing, brown nosing yes man who will do anything Rod tells him to do. He got his job because his Daddy is a Judge. You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. Martin comes from a little PD with limited experience and was hired here as a Sergeant. No test just a wave of the wand by the good fairy, Rodney and he's here.

Granted he may be a book smart kid but like Rod, he's no leader and his judgement is in question. My question: When a certain something is dropped into the comode what is it that flots to the top? Brian Martin.
 

To the Mithell supporters, I worked for the LCSO years ago. I was warned by two Sargents my number was basically up. The GOB's were on the hunt and I was to be the next one to fall victim because I did not agree with their ethics. Guess what, they got me. I cannot believe you guys still support Mitchell in his regime. It is a time for change in Lake County. There is nothing worse than going to work, putting your life on the line, only to have your coworkers F*** you because the cover ups got to much. I understand you all have careers on the line but let the citizens of Lake County go for criminy sake enough is enough.

1214 - These people are unbelievable in their stupidity. They see their co-workers bite the dust left and right. They see people they have worked with and may be friends with get the shaft. They see the GOB's turn right around and openly bad mouth them to everyone. They see internal apple polishing and snitchery and favoritism. They see the lack of training,. supervision, leadership and management on the part of their so called leaders who have no loyalty to anyone but themselves. These people need to grow some cajonies and stand up and back Mitchell's opposition.

Think of this boys and girls. Mitchell has a proven track record of mismanagement and vindictiveness. He is not your friend as he's demonstrated by throwing his own goldenboys under the bus when they caused the slightest problem. Get rid of Rod and try something new. Reach out to Rivero and ask him exactly what he has in mind.
 

The silent majority within the LCSO is hoping for change. They realize that Rodney and his boys have got to go and positive change must take place. The GOB's will have to prove themselves just like anyone else and the days of Rodney's cliques will soon be gone.
