LTGOB has admitted he is the mouthpiece for Rob. We must realize how valuable that is for this Blog. Will Rob have to denounce him before the election is over? We know Rob reads this Blog, but on his busy days LTGOB acts as his agent. Do you want to have Rob's ear daily? Give Rob and LTGOB every opportunity to insert their foots in their mouths. This is too much fun. Let the games begin.
 

I have seen people come and people go with their GOB comments. Ltgob is an ass as is kkklint, jj and rob brown ~ if they are not all the same person. Regardless, they are all of the same ilk and of very little value to our county.

I always enjoy watching them all get put in their places by the Lovelacers but some of those comments do need to come down at times. A pain in the butt for the Love Admin. but worth it in the long haul. My opinion is to leave it in the hands of the Love Admin(s). to decided ltgob's fate because they know best how to handle him/her/it.

I wish to take this time with the start of this new year to thank Lovelace for all you do and have done for the rest of non-gobs in this county.

In clarification of the LTGOB issue the main sentence we were concerned with has been posted, in effect saying that Steve was a good man and gave to the community and then saying "just like Rob Brown". Our concern is simple, why would Brown's name even be mentioned in the post? Was there really any need in such a tragic moment to do so? Was not LTGOB sticking his foot in his mouth in exactly the same way that Brown always does, or is LTGOB actually Rob Brown?? It would not be so far fetched. None the less the question on the table is a simple one, do we ban LTGOB for such an attempt or do we allow him to continue to post. There was no need to even mention Brown's name, could not have LTGOB simply posted a concerned comment for the friends and family of Steve's? You citizens have the fact and we are looking at each point and comment concerning this decision. At this point it is impossible to make a decision so we will continue to ask you to post your comments on the issue and later this evening we will make a decision based on your input.
 

Citizens of Lake County we are starting a count down to January 9th and the ruling of the plea agreement concerning Navarro. it is imperative that we fill the court room on this date, the place needs to be full of citizens. In the end the decision the judge makes is final, and regardless of what it is he and all others concerned need to know the citizens are aware of this miscarriage of justice and that we are not happy with it. We will post the time of the court date on the 9th in the near future, and we are asking all individuals to find a way and plan ahead to be in the court room for this decision. Please do what you can to attend.
 

Very good work Lovelace this is exactly what Lizzy and Johnny should have done prior to banning Ron Green, it is the citizens that are important and they are the ones that support your paper, you should have done exactly what Lovelace is doing, and ask for input and direction. Well, this is interesting. I seem to have erroneously assumed that LL erroneously assumed that I was LTGOB when I posted that I had just gotten off the phone with Rob and we respected Steve Elias and regretted his passing. Now it seems that LTGOB may have compared Rob to Steve in one of his posts and I never had a chance to see it because it was deleted. As I stated, I never compared the two men and have no desire to do so now. It should be obvious that I respect both people but would see no reason to state the obvious when it would convince no one of our point of view.

By the way, Rob does not read this site and LTGOB is his mouthpiece, but so am I and we both pass on things of interest to Rob from time to time.

Rob Brown isn't the only candidate who put his face and name on a flyer full of Democrats, giving the impression that they supported him.... Jim Comstock did it also. Trouble with that is that the local race is one which doesn't require the candidates to claim party affiliation with the Democrats or Republicans, so whoever gets there first and pays their money can get their face and name on any and all flyers. I wish it was illegal, I think it's uneven handed, but it isn't illegal. I checked.

Well there you have it folks, 18 felony counts and 2 misdemeanors, All reduced to one count in a terrible plea deal that thankfully the Judge rejected. How strikingly similar this is to the Clear Lake case of the man who got 41 years. Next time let us hope the Senior Assitant Attorney General Dave Druliner does his job, instead of arguing in favor of the defendant he needs to be prosecuting him.
 

I don't know about you guys but I am about sick and tired of this attorney general and her minions. They better pull their head out of their ass and start stepping up to the plate. I don't want to see any of them here unless they are doing the will of the citizens of this county. Kamala, you better fix this system you have going or your going to be a one term AG. Message to Druliner: You ever try to pull a stunt like that again and you will find us going after you. Your job was not to protect the AG's plea decision, it was to argue the actual merits of such a plea bargain, keeping in mind the letter of the law and the severity of the crimes committed weighed against similar sentencing as your guide. Thank God Judge Blum rejected the AG's outrageous decision.
 

The charges in Navarro are very different then the charges in Sanders that netted him 41 years at 85%. Sanders got so much time because three of the five charges are forcible sex crimes which are sentenced fully consecutively. That's not the case with Navarro. Navarro's maximum exposure, if convicted on all counts, is 20 years, if he is sentenced fully consecutively on every count (and there's no guarantee of that). None of the charges are strikes so he would only have to serve 50%. None of the charges preclude probation. Only 4 of the charges require registration under current law. Don't get me wrong, he's a pervert and he should go to prison and he should register, but the crimes he's charged with are nearly as serious. That's nobody's fault, that's just the way the law is. Once a kid turns 14 the penalties go way down. I'm rooting for the AG to grow some balls and hammer this guy as much as he can be hammered.

A case against two from Humbolt Co. charged with attempted murder ended Tuesday when attorneys struck a deal in the middle of jury selection for one of the defendants.
The case against Michael C. Loftin Jr., 28, was dismissed with prejudice as part of a plea deal that included co-defendant Ronnie Meyer Sr., 43, pleading no contest to assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. When a case is dismissed with prejudice, it may not be retried.

“I’m glad the judge allowed the trial to be interrupted,” said Karen Olson, Meyer’s attorney.

The prosecution was handled by Special Assistant Attorney General Dave Druliner because District Attorney Jon Alexander had a conflict of interest in the case from his past work as a private attorney.

The timing of Druliner’s deal offer was “very unorthodox, but I think it was definitely in the interest of justice,” said Olson.

That's Del Norte County, Alexander was a long-time defense attorney before being elected. I guess I'm glad Don got elected, he mostly did family law, so not that many conflicts have shown up. They must be doing something right, that one guy got 41 years.

Clearlake is # 2 in the state for risky stroke surgery.
Jerry Magner of Clearlake CA tried to reassure his son Chuck that he had been through all of this before and just wanted to get back home to his wife of 60 yrs, who was recently diagnosed as having dementia. Mager was headed into surgery last summer to clean out a clogged artery in his neck, a procedure he had at least twice before. Just before he went in Magner told his son not to worry.
On July 20 Magner underwent the surgery that intended to prevent stroke.
Magner never never regained consciousness. He died later.
Residents of Clearlake area are 2 1/2 times more likely to undergo the surgery than the average Californian, according to hospital data by Stanford Professor Laurance Baker.

The Rob Brown situation with the FPPC appears as if it is going to go to investigation. The FPPC is in the process of informing Brown of the request for investigation, and based on the preliminary discrepancies in his reporting, he has gotten himself in a bit of hot water. This is not to be taken lightly an individual who falsely reported on financial dealings in another small county was recently fined 14,000 dollars. It should be cautioned of course that this is a governmental agency and confidence always remains low in these situations that actual action will be taken. But it does at this point serve the purpose of letting Brown know we are watching and looking into every aspect of his activities.

Medical marijuana dispensary laws to get state Supreme Court hearing

The California Supreme Court has again jumped into the fray over the legality of medical marijuana laws, deciding this week to review two lower-court rulings that affect how and whether local governments can regulate pot dispensaries across the state.

In their weekly closed-door session Wednesday, the justices voted unanimously to review cases from Long Beach and Riverside that dealt with the ongoing conflict between California's 1996 voter-approved law allowing medical marijuana and federal laws barring the use or sale of the drug.

The state Supreme Court's rulings in the cases are likely to widely echo through the Bay Area, where cities from San Jose to Oakland are trying to regulate medical marijuana providers while others have chosen to outlaw any form of dispensary.

Sheriffs officers arrested Jason James Russell 29, for soliciting sex from a 15 year old girl on Facebook. Russell made contact with the girl who in turned reported it to her father who notified the Lake County Sheriffs Office. They arrested Russell at the place Russell arranged to meet the young girl at.
Bail is set at $15,000.

NEW YORK: When the entire Internet gets angry, Congress takes notice. Both the House and the Senate on Friday backed away from a pair of controversial anti-piracy bills, tossing them into limbo and throwing doubt on their future viability.

The Senate had been scheduled to hold a proceedural vote next week on whether to take up the Protect IP Act (PIPA) -- a bill that once had widespread, bipartisan support. But on Friday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he was postponing the vote "in light of recent events."

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives said it is putting on hold its version of the bill, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). The House will "postpone consideration of the legislation until there is wider agreement on a solution," House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith said in a written statement.

The moves came after several lawmakers flipped their position on the bills in the wake of widespread online and offline protests against them.

A memo from the US Attorneys' office explaining guidelines for prosecution of California medical marijuana cases was recently leaked online. Medical marijuana attorney Chris Van Hook recommends dispensaries and private collectives undergo a compliance check by a qualified attorney to ensure they do not have any of the red flags that would put their business at greater risk of being targeted for closure.

Van Hook points out there are some understandable reasons for the federal government's crackdown, as the current state of California law has led to abuse. Criminal activities are taking advantage of the confusion in the current state of California law. National land intended for the benefit of all Americans is too often used by cartels and illegal growers. Guns, kidnappings, assault and environmental degradation are all too often the norm for these operations. The US Attorneys' memo particularly focuses on these criminal organizations, and the dispensaries that do business with them, as triggers for federal enforcement.
 

It looks like the trolls have finally gone away. Maybe now the adults can discuss the real issues.
 

The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday will consider eliminating the county's medical marijuana permit program in answer to recent legal threats from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

County Counsel Jeanine Nadel is recommending the board adopt a changed version of County Code Chapter 9.31, which currently allows medical marijuana collectives to grow up to 99 plants per parcel if they get a permit for an exemption to the county's 25-plant limit from the Sheriff's Office and follow a set of rules.

Nadel is proposing to cut the ordinance's provisions that have to do with the exemption, the permits and inspection requirements, shrinking the 21-page document to eight pages.

We are proud to announce that the signatures have been verified for our initiative for medical marijuana cultivation regulation - the Lake County Medical Marijuana Cultivation Act of 2012. On Tuesday, January 24th, the Board of Supervisors will have an opportunity to vote on our initiative.



We urge the Board of Supervisors to enact our initiative directly, so that there are clear guidelines in place for medical marijuana cultivation, prior to the spring planting cycle.



The Medical Marijuana Cultivation Act of 2012 accomplishes the following:



* It Gives the County the Tools It Needs to Control and Limit the Problem Grows.

The county's position has been that they couldn't stop the collectives growing hundreds or even thousands of plants on a parcel, since it was legal under state law. With our initiative proposal, it is declared a public nuisance to grow more than the allowed amounts in specific zoning, and the most that can be grown by collectives on any sized parcel even in agricultural zoning is 84 plants. Thus, any grows over that amount are declared a public nuisance under our ordinance and can easily be abated by the county.

* Eliminates Visual Nuisances Caused by Cultivation.

All plants must be screened from public view and the view of neighbors and must be more than 600 feet from schools.

* Provides for protection from Cultivation Odors in Residential Neighborhoods.

Even though people can grow reasonable numbers of plants in residential neighborhoods, if the odor or other factors create a nuisance, they lose that right and it can be easily abated.

* Mandates Compliance with County and State Environmental Standards.

All cultivation must comply with California law and all other County ordinances, such as grading and environmental ordinances.

* Allows for Fee and Tax Collection.

Where allowed by state law, this initiative proposal allows the County to pass legislation providing for payment of fees or taxes on larger cultivation sites, to pay for administrative costs and for inspections to ensure compliance with all county ordinances.

* Allows the County to Inspect for Compliance with Cultivation Standards.

Where allowed by state law, this initiative proposal allows the county to inspect and verify cultivation regulation compliance.

* In Full Compliance with Pack v. Long Beach.

In October, the second district court of appeals filed an opinion, Pack v. Long Beach, that it was not lawful for a county or city to issue permits or collect fees from medical marijuana, since marijuana remains illegal under federal law. In light of this decision, many county and city ordinances related to medical marijuana are now under legal scrutiny. Our initiative proposal is in full compliance with the Pack v. Long Beach decision, since it does not explicitly include permits or fees. However, if the Pack v. Long Beach decision is overturned (as is widely expected), it also explicitly allows Lake County to conduct inspections and collect fees, when this is again allowed under state law.

A temporary moratorium on new medical marijuana dispensaries in the county will likely be extended Tuesday during the afternoon session of the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors meeting.

The 45-day temporary moratorium was initially approved by the board on Dec. 13 in response to a recent crackdown by the federal government.

Deputy County Counsel Davina Smith said the legal landscape hasn't changed much since the moratorium was first approved.

”We're still kind of in legal limbo,” Smith said. “We think we should continue to go forward with the moratorium.”

Smith said cities and counties are now looking to the California Supreme Court for answers. She said the court has taken on three cases, including the Pack vs. Superior Court case, to see whether local governments can regulate marijuana dispensaries. Pack alleged federal law -- which marks marijuana as an illegal substance -- pre-empted the city of Long Beach's right to regulate marijuana in the state.

Word on the inside says that the supervisors like all counties who have a vested interest in MJ have received threats from Eric Holder to not approve anything. Well think about this. The BOS having no balls can let it go to a vote, if they reject it, and that takes them out of the hot seat with (the countries gun runner and the man responsible for the death of a boarder patrol agent at the hands of the Mexican Cartel with American weapons.) Mr. Holder. So all odds say the BOS will run like the wind, call for an impact report and hold off for 30 days but in the end they still only have two choices, to the people or get some balls and approve it.

Why did all these people end up in Lake County, and why has Lake County always suffered, been poor, and unable to right this ship, we have the same condition currently in our local government, and we must continue to take them out one by one.

It really boggles my mind as to what they think they will accomplish. The US government has spent SO much time trying to convince it's citizens that it isn't nearly as corrupt as they think it is, and now they try to push SOPA and PIPA on the home land, and ACTA internationally? What do they expect to happen? They push these in secret, get them passed, and then the people rise up, crucify them, and start new governments. Suffice to say, we are angry.

Now that a trial date has be set for Narvarro, it will be interesting if he tries to fire this attorney to continue his stall tactic. A change of venue would be fine, because any logical person hearing what he did would put him away. With that said don't come back with "he is innocent and just plead to save everyone". Well well, that will really work for Navarro, go ahead go to a different venue and you will have no one who would support you. Here you might get a GOB or two to slip into the jury pool.

Hauptman says it will take 30 to 60 days to do a survey of the local opinion, Hell Hauptman we can get 3000 signatures in 2 weeks, me thinks that is a bit long to figure out Navarro is dead in the water in lake County.

Pretty basic stuff, the Board as predicted sent it to an impact report. gee that was a surprise. Hey another surprise dipstick Brown has pronounced that it would fail if it goes to a vote. Browny boy is the only supervisor who voiced that amazing prognostication. He is so full of it, however it will be great to see it shoved down his throat. Other then that they did exactly what was thought they would do, and bought themselves 30 days. So after 30 days when all the departments weigh in, they then will be back to the same options approve it as it is written or send it to a vote. You see the will of the people will be done, it is just a matter of the supervisors slowly getting the understanding that they have no choice. Great job by the Green Farmers, and all citizens who gave their signatures. Sweet, let's move on to the next step.
 

By the way the vote for sending it to impact was 3 to 1 we have finally moved Farrington into the world of reality, and he wanted to approve it as it is written, he also questioned the cost of doing an impact report when the bottomline is it does not matter what the report says, you will either approve it or it will go to a vote of the people. Rushing was again absent that is two weeks in a row, perhaps there is some family illness or something. Bingo post 532, I don't think the narcissistic Brown understands how negative he is seen in the county. People who may not be as you say 100 percent for the initiative will vote for it to simply spite Brown. When he makes these strange comments on how he thinks the people will vote, it just destroys him. He said and did the same thing with Mitchell and hurt him more then helping him, you see he thinks his little world of K-ville is all of the county, and he does not understand what a negative effect he has on the citizens. It would be wise for the BOS to sign off on this proposal and move on to bigger and better things, this is a done deal, and spending the taxpayers money to fight what is the taxpayers wishes is just silly.
 

I think the citizenry understands that sometimes it is necessary to support their neighbors rights in exchange for their support of your rights. That's why even tho I don't use I voted for 215. At the time I didn't feel that I had the right to monitor my neighbors medicine. And still don't.
