This is the Lovelace Group of Lake County and this is our Blog page. This Blog is dedicated to the good citizens of our county and with their help and dedication to change and transparency. This site now has 6 years of existence. It started several years ago dedicated to the removal of two public officials holding office in our county. Sheriff Rodney K. Mitchell and District Attorney John Hopkins. As our group began to look at the actions and incidents of corruption, elitism, and crony-ism that was entrenched in our local governmental system it became clear that something must be done to change the course of the past 15 years. Lake County is one of the lowest rated counties in the state from health criteria to water quality. Meth is still a severe issue, tourism is dying, and housing value is stagnant. Our lake is dying due to total government mismanagement. Change is needed. A model was created, this model was based upon the use and concept of social communications and Internet dialog to promote public awareness and further the cause of radical change in our community. By various means we brought our site to the attention of the citizens and public officials in our county. Now approaching one million comments, several elections, and an amazing county, state and country wide audience we are pressing forward for even greater social change and policy restructuring within our county. Environmentally and from a governmental failure, our county is dying.
What has been accomplished thus far would have been hard to imagine 48 months ago. Sheriff Rodney K. Mitchell has been removed from power, District Attorney Jon Hopkins has been removed from power. One of the driving forces for the exposure and removal of these two corrupt individuals is a terrible incident involving a boating accident on our local lake when a sheriff's deputy named Russell Perdock drove his speed boat at high speed in the middle of the night over the top of a sail boat just leaving the docks with running lights on killing at a far to early age a beautiful women name Lynn Thorton, at the helm of the sailboat was Bismarck Dinius. What followed is hard to imagine. Then sheriff Mitchell and DA Hopkins charged Bismarck Dinius with the death of his passenger Lynn Thorton and protected their deputy Russell Perdock, charging him with no crimes. During the course of the criminal trial cover-ups, illegal actions, jury tampering, and a host of other issues spelled the doom of Mitchell and Hopkins and the total unanimous jury acquittal of Bismarck Dinius. A federal civil rights trial of massive proportions has been settled in San Francisco federal court with several million dollars going to Mr. Dinius. Both Mitchell and Hopkins were key individuals in the attempted prosecution of Bismarck Dinius and cover-up of the truth of the accident. With this incident in mind we launched the sheriff Mitchell Watch Blog, of which our URL remains the same but our Blog name has now changed to Lake County Government Watch. During the adventures of our first year we were able to elect Sheriff Frank Rivero into the sheriffs position. For 4 years running the GOB network has attacked sheriff Rivero. A phony Brady process by DA Donnie Anderson, a Trumped up recall attempt by Brian Martin and Rob Brown, and a vote of no confidence by the BOS were some of the constant attacks by this elitist network. Now in the recent election, the local media showing no journalistic integrity has assisted in taking our sheriff out of office, he is being replaced by a Good Old Boy who is directly connected to former sheriff Rodney Mitchell. Although we will have one or two new supervisors in district's 2 and 3, we are saddened with the loss of sheriff Rivero. Sheriff Rivero was of Cuban blood. The severe racism still embedded in the power brokers of Lake County and their family and friends remains a major issue. However we are steadfast in our dedication to you the people of this county and of furthering transparency, honesty, and government integrity in our county and beyond.
What we have found during the course of our own investigations in the county is stunning to say the least. It was discovered that a local Internet paper called Lake County News run by Liz Larson and her husband John, in our opinion were in collusion with local government officials. We then exposed this paper for its biased and fascist operations discrediting their reporting and any semblance of credibility they once had. The Record Bee has done no better and due to a massive amount of pressure local editor Mandy Feder is leaving the paper. Both papers outright attacks on Sheriff Rivero scraped the bottom of journalistic integrity. One of the more significant discoveries also exposed several of our local Board of Supervisors to the citizens scrutiny. Most significant is Rob Brown, whom we continue to bring the light of transparency and exposure to his actions and Neanderthal approach to governance.
As together we continue our Blog and our efforts towards community awareness and change we want to thank the many citizens from deputies current and former to just good folks helping and offering assistance.

stored at its Property and Evidence section. This money was taken into the custody of the Sheriff’s Office between April 2001 and September 2010.
If no claim is filed for this money it has become property of the Lake County
Sheriff’s Office on August 28, 2015.

The question was already put to Brian about a Citizen Review Board and his response was that there is no need for the citizens to be involved because all investigations will be handled in house by him like he was taught by Mitchell.
And we all know how well that worked out for Perdock.
And himself when Brian shot his neighbors dog with a pellet gun.

Rivero advocated for raises for his deputy's from the very beginning.
It's too bad that's all over for the deputy's now.
The deputy's that stayed around waiting/hoping for the BOS to at least show some consideration are now free to go.
With the budget in the red and no one to advocate for them I wouldn't blame them for leaving.
In place of their possible raise Brian is going to put GPS's in their cars to add some more stress to their low pay work day.
At least Brian bought 3 patrol cars that most deputy's can't fit in and 2
SUV's that can't be driven off road.

Transients hole up in the old cottage resorts where vacationing families once came to fish and swim. Rotted docks and pier pilings litter the lake's shoreline.
Much of this city, in fact, and others nearby in Lake County, looks as if it was plucked from Appalachia — with weeds and unpaved streets, stray dogs and backyard marijuana crops.
But across the water in the county seat of Lakeport, civic and business leaders talk of bringing back tourism, of planting more vineyards instead of weed.

This is a very dishonest and corrupt county. I am still curios why they make such a big thing over a minimal marijuana grow that is suppose to be legal according to the county laws. 503 got caught with his pants down. He has been here for a couple months telling everyone to stop asking for closure on the cause of the Valley fire. He has said over and over don't worry about it. Don't ask about it. He has shown no remorse no concern for the families. This is not his first communications here, and he has shown himself to be less then human. He deserves exactly what he got. Well essentially the sides have now been drawn for WWIII shirts and skins. The DEA has failed to eradicate marijuana. Now Congress wants it to stop trying.
The Drug Enforcement Administration is not having a great year.
The chief of the agency stepped down in April under a cloud of scandal. The acting administrator since then has courted ridicule for saying pot is "probably not" as dangerous as heroin, and more recently he provoked 100,000 petition-signers and seven members of Congress to call for his head after he called medical marijuana "a joke."
This fall, the administration earned a scathing rebuke from a federal judge over its creative interpretation of a law intended to keep it from harassing medical marijuana providers. Then, the Brookings Institution issued a strongly-worded report outlining the administration's role in "stifling medical research" into medical uses of pot.
Unfortunately for the DEA, the year isn't over yet. Last week a group of 12 House members led by Ted Lieu of California wrote to House leadership to push for a provision in the upcoming spending bill that would strip half of the funds away from the DEA's Cannabis Eradication Program, and put that money toward programs that "play a far more useful role in promoting the safety and economic prosperity of the American people:" domestic violence prevention and overall spending reduction efforts.
Each year the DEA spends about $18 million in efforts with state and local authorities to pull up marijuana plants being grown indoors and outdoors. The program has been plagued by scandal and controversy in recent years. In the mid-2000s it became clear that the overwhelming majority of "marijuana" plants netted by the program were actually "ditchweed," or the wild, non-cultivated, non-psychoactive cousin of the marijuana that people smoke.
More recently, overzealous marijuana eradicators have launched heavily-armed raids on okra plants, and warned the Utah legislature of the threat posed by rabbits who had "cultivated a taste for the marijuana." Last year the DEA spent an average of roughly $4.20 (yes, really) for each marijuana plant it successfully uprooted. In some states, the cost to taxpayers approached $60 per uprooted plant.

Each year the DEA spends about $18 million in efforts with state and local authorities to pull up marijuana plants being grown indoors and outdoors. The program has been plagued by scandal and controversy in recent years. In the mid-2000s it became clear that the overwhelming majority of "marijuana" plants netted by the program were actually "ditchweed," or the wild, non-cultivated, non-psychoactive cousin of the marijuana that people smoke.
More recently, overzealous marijuana eradicators have launched heavily-armed raids on okra plants, and warned the Utah legislature of the threat posed by rabbits who had "cultivated a taste for the marijuana." Last year the DEA spent an average of roughly $4.20 (yes, really) for each marijuana plant it successfully uprooted. In some states, the cost to taxpayers approached $60 per uprooted plant.

Thanks for the request on the deputy. We do have his name, however the nature of the situation leaves us to believe that we will hold on putting the name out at this time. Our understanding is family members connected to the individual have not all been notified due to their location and the short time since the incident, we do not want to break news such as this as John Jensen would do if he knew, which by the way he does not, just for the sake of being first as we usually are in breaking news in the county. Thus for now we will hold the name it will be out soon enough.
I guess the federal government don't arrest county supervisors either??? I mean 70 plants compared to 5,000 plants, come on now.

The low pay for SO has nothing to do with Frank or Brian or with the BOS for that matter. This county has a "me too" clause in the contract for the rest of the employees and giving the deputies a raise would break the county. Brian is trying as hard as anyone to find a way around this but no one can figure one out. He is as upset as anyone about the constant loss of deputies and the difficulty recruiting new ones with our pay schedule.

I have sat here and watched all the BS fanfare about deputy sheriff steely. Here are some truths about him: He was told to quit Lakeport PD or be fired. He was NOT in the military...EVER! He did not try and save his kid, there is a video on youtube in which you can see that both him and his son were swept into the ocean by a rouge wave at the same time. He hit his head and never came to. If anything, steely should have paid heed to the signs that clearly warn people of the dangers of climbing on the rocks. Steely was taken to stand in front of God our father to be held accountable for directly causing the death of a good man. As his life left his body he was taken before God and judged for his actions and to the right of God stood the man steely had wronged and cause his death. Vengeance is mine sayith the Lord! For those interested in what is happening in the Coel child porn case. Here are a few notes. Coel was swept up in an FBi national investigation that went coast to coast. The feds has gained access to nodes in the TOR system and began using stings and undercover investigations to find the participants. Be aware this is going to be a very long and drawn out process. As those defending the perps are trying to force the feds to give the NIT access information they used to catch these folks. There are questions concerning search warrants and their validity. By the way no Brian Martin is not conducting an internal investigation, the Feds told Martin to go away this is way out of your league, we don't need you to do anything and we do not want your basically dirt road sheriffs investigation to get in our way. Basically step aside son, this is for the big boys. Also be aware local officials who may have been close to Coel are being looked at as part of the normal process of investigation. It should be noted that almost never is a person such as Coel without "partners" who live local in the same communities.
Also note you will never be updated by the Feds, you will never hear a word about what is happening or where the investigation is. You will also never see local media do any reporting on this. Since the ordinance passed, officials have approved applications for at least 11 businesses with plans for more than 1.7 million square feet of cultivation operations.
Each year, the city will tax growers $25 per square foot of cultivation space for the first 3,000 square feet and $10 per square foot after that. At least eight other projects are in the approval process.

Mayor Steven Hernandez said he expected the businesses to bring better-paying jobs to the city's low-income residents. "Improving living conditions, eliminating blight and lowering crime states are just some of the benefits that will come with Marijuana production said Hernandez."
Since the ordinance passed, officials have approved applications for at least 11 businesses with plans for more than 1.7 million square feet of cultivation operations.
Each year, the city will tax growers $25 per square foot of cultivation space for the first 3,000 square feet and $10 per square foot after that. At least eight other projects are in the approval process.

A local attorney has pleaded guilty to a felony count of possessing
child pornography in a case that first began nearly two years ago.
Robert Wayne Wiley, 75, of Lakeport entered the plea on Jan. 9 as part of an
agreement reached with the Lake County District Attorney's Office, said his

The plea deal resulted in a second, identical charge being dropped against

11:26 Yes the system worked to some extent except Wiley was not required to register as a sex offender at the time of his sentencing. I was not until citizens started questioning why not. The answer was he fell through the cracks of the system. After some citizen pressure Mr. Wiley was required to register. By the way there are 254, registered sex offenders in Lake County. More than several are in violation. Because of this site many issues have been caught before they can fall between the cracks and after. Cover-ups are not uncommon involving those within Lake County government or friends of Lake County government.

it is very clear what the wine industry has not done for Lake County since the powers that be decided that they wanted to be like Napa. Over the past 13 years unemployment has risen to nearly 13%, blight and decadence has increased along the hwy 20 corridor. The destruction of thousands of acres of pristine natural woods have been destroyed. Crime is higher then it has ever been. DUI's in the county continue to climb. Fetzers wine tasting room has closed, Shannon ridge wine tasting has closed. Streets are a nightmare, more potholes then ever before. The infrastructure in the county continues to decline. Tax revenues over 10 years has fallen, Housing prices compared to 10 years ago are down 40%. Yet the county continues to allow growers to destroy natural land and put in wholesale wine grapes. Not grapes that will bring in tourism, but simply to be wholesaled out of the county. Meanwhile businesses continue to close on main street, and the GOB's scream yes grapes are going to save our county. Yikes!!

To start it is off to a roaring start, this year will by far exceed last year, and estimates suggest between 4000 and 5000 individual grows of between 20 and 100 plants. Massive amounts of dirt and supplies are now being purchased and clones are all just about ready to go in the ground. The local hardware stores are collecting pure hard cash and some purchases are well over 10,000 dollars at a time. This is the only viable economic saving of the county there is. Without MJ the county dies.
Last year was huge, the biggest ever and little Bri Bri stayed in the box like a good little boy, he will do the same thing this year and this coming year will far exceed last year. Kathy Fowler is loading up on PU's as this is going to be a barn-burner. Last year LC Bud went from New York to Florida and we are known as some of the best and most skilled growers in the nation. Hats off to all the great and skilled growers in our county. They are amazing.
By the way there are going to be a lot of new and exciting strains coming out this year, so it is going to be amazing. It is sad that the county doesn't want to partake in this stellar economic market. But so be it, let them cry in their own tears of jealousy.

Rod explains how rugged the land is and how easy it would be to go unnoticed. LCN provides us a photo. Look closely at the photo. It is not Rob's property at all. It belongs to Rob's southern neighbor, at the time Roland Shaul. If you know Roland, you know he doesn't have to grow marijuana, and if he was he would probably use the well documented spring that is at the top of his property that is shown in the picture. All of this can be clearly seen from Bottle Rock Road if you stop near the spot where Rob started the fire that burned down his neighbor;s garage. Keep in mind that Rob said the growers were stealing water from his neighbor, Dennis Lawson's water tank. You might notice that Lawson's tank, which is visible from the same spot you are parked at, is far below the land shown in the photo, therefore, it would have require a pump, to pump that much water uphill. You might want to come up with something more interesting, and real, than a Trumped up 8 year old grow that Brown himself reported especially considering 60% of Californian's are in favor of MJ anyway.

Barbarian Brother is real, they are coming in from sonoma county.There are four of them in the county jail who robbed those people in Oct of 2013 that have not been to trial yet? My guess is their attorney is waiting to see if the seniors who got robbed die or loose their memory, that's what attorneys do.
