I'm trying to understand why the corruption supporters are trying so hard to keep Mitchell?? I don't know all the county, state benefits they enjoy. Maybe someone can list them, such as retirement, health plans. union protection, job security,ect. When the list is complete, Then please tell me how those benefits would change when Rivero is elected? Could it be that Mitchell offers "other" benefits not listed that would change? We have all have had jobs where the upper management changed. It didn't affect anyone's position as long as they were doing their job. So why all the worry? Since Mitchell has no control over the mandated benefits what other reasons would they want to keep him?

It starts with the words of the father speaking to us on the jail suicide which recently happened at the sheriffs jail facilities. We are continuing our investigation at this time, and we will be reporting on further details, but we felt it was important to get this terrible event out and to the public ASAP..The sentence flow is a bit off due to the word doc.transfer to this site.We will post in two parts if necessary.

INTERVIEW OF WILLIAM AND JUDY HATFIELD
REGARDING SON’S SUICIDE
IN THE LAKE COUNTY JAIL

This is the situation. I took my wife down and put her in the hospital. She has epilepsy. She had a total collapse at the viewing of her son. Then she had another one. The ambulance took her to the hospital from the mortuary.
We feel Lake County murdered our son.
Our son had been acting funny. He said we were clones. He had a rope with a noose on it hanging in the closet. He kept a butcher knife in the bedroom. He ate bread and water only the last week he was alive. He told his brother, “I’ll see you on the other side.”
We kept telling him to get help.
Saturday May 15 he barricaded himself in the bedroom. He told us he had the room rigged to blow.
I came outside. We called Pat at Mental Health, at the 1-800-Hotline. They sent the police out. The Clearlake City Police arrived, three officers. Three officers attempted to get in the room.
In the meantime my son was scared. My son thought the police were going to kill him.
The Police called three more officers. These three officers were Lake County Sheriffs.
My son had urinated over all over his clothes. He had urinated allover the clothes that were all over the bedroom. He had clothes and stuff laying everywhere. He urinated over the carpet too.
They wrapped him up like suitcase. He was tied up in a fetal position, handcuffed. His hands were cuffed together behind his ankles. His feet were cuffed together. His hands were attached to his feet.
They took him to St Helena Hospital in Clearlake.
Police had charges against him for the arrest. These charges according to the booking detail sheet include battery on a peace officer, resisting a police officer, 148 and 243 PC, also obstructing executive officer, 69PC.
He did fight officers. He was afraid. His name was Jimmy Ray Hatfield.
 

My wife and I were told to stay outside the house. Pat from Mental Health said verbally over the phone we’re going to take him to the hospital. Pat had assessed him at the hospital. She told us that a doctor at the hospital and the officers got together and over rode her assessment. Police took him to jail, not the mental hospital that Pat had recommended.
They put him in a cell by himself with the tools to hang himself.
My wife Judy called nine times Sunday May 16, telling jail personnel to watch him carefully, that he might try to commit suicide. My son’s fiancé Jaime called once and told personnel at the jail that he needed to be in a rubber room.
The jail personnel said they were checking him once an hour. They should have been checking him every 15 minutes.
My son was paranoid. He lost his truck. It was repossessed. He was on unemployment because of the economy.
He had two daughters and an x-girl friend who said, “You can’t see your daughters til you get help.”
My wife called the jail nine times trying to warn them that my son might try to kill himself.
This was a total and complete failure of the system that cost my son his life.
The DA is investigating everything, our side and the jail side.
My son was not a criminal. He was a good kid.
They gave him something to calm him down. The picture they took of him shows bruises we did not see at the time they left with him. The picture showed bruises on his forehead, a goose egg on his head, At the funeral home we saw that he hurt his arm. He had a cracked wrist and a hurt ankle. A mark was under his chin where he hung himself.
We have not gotten all of our son’s property back from the jail. We still have not received our son’s shirt, his wallet, or his cell phone. They say they can’t find this propery.
We didn’t call the police. We called mental health services.
The system they have up here is a total failure.
Two officers came and told us Monday morning May 17 that our son had hung himself at 6:00AM May 17.
 

This is no time to be whining at Lovelace if you do not know the rules then learn them. Now open up and stop whining at us. Why is this all ok with you "Bucko" your blatant lack of sensitivity just so you can whine at the most progressive group for change in the county is not warranted. You tell us "Bucko' why this is all ok. A man died!! Get a clue man, the house is crumbling and you won't leave the rubble because of your own ego.
 

why didn't Rodney Mitchell go to the parents and tell them? He is the leader isn't he!
 

Good job of reporting Joan, with a very difficult situation, you do great work, the Lovelace group is lucky to have you I hope to see more of your work in their new paper. Now maybe you have the opportunity to shine beyond the constraints of the other media or non-media outlets. I hope your future reporting does not have to be on anymore of these situations.

Re: Hatfield suicide ~~ I suspected this would happen. Based on what I read in the paper(s) regarding Jimmy's mental/emotional state and the fact that he was not monitored properly in jail was going to be an issue.

I feel so sad for the family. Sometimes your hands are just tied and you're at your wits' end. I guess we assume that LCSO has some knowledge in the area surrounding mental/emotional disorders, just as they do in the area of domestic violence (I'm being facetious). LE needs to get a clue, get some training, get some understanding, get some compassion. No, they can't be nice to all their "guests", cuz they truly don't deserve it. But in this case, they were informed on numerous occasions by family and friends that this man was a suicide risk. I'm appalled and heartsick.

I just read the report, how very sad, thank you Lovelace for exposing this, and thank you Joan Moss for getting the information and doing the difficult interviews with the mother and father.

Do not let the DA investigate this. The DA's investigators ARE Lake County deputy sheriffs! Same union, same boss, same badge, same uniforms! They will cover for anyone that works with or for the LCSO, unless of course they have some ax to grind with one of them!

This is another black eye on this sheriff and on Lake County, it is so wrong in so many ways. Systems are set up for this kind of situation, do we not have them in this county? How could they put a person in jail under those conditions? And over-ride the mental health recommendation? I just don't understand it..
 

Nor do we post 418. This is what we must do in this county overturn every rock and every hidin place. This is not about the election, we would and will do these things from this point forward and to us it does not matter who is in the political positions in this county. There is much work to be done and when we set up this site if was for just these purposes, things are terribly wrong in this county and in Mitchells Regime, and it must stop and be changed. Regardless of any election, or any winner from either side of the line. This is about people's lives, and justice and transparency.

As we approach the date of the election and now Memorial day weekend the final break before voting, we want to pass on a few words. All that we see happening and that has happened was inevitable, what we anticipated has come to the forefront, the massive attacks the attempts to discredit, the resistance to change, the angry responses, all of it right down the line of what was anticipated. To this end there is no surprise, we have started a strong and determined citizens group, and it will move to the next phase with a newspaper starting on the 1st of June, while maintaining the Blog as well. We heard from an SO today who said Mitchell is mad as hell and scared to death. We know this to be the case and we know it to be the case for many who in the past years have had far to much control of our county and the citizens. All in all it has been an amazing past 10 months, we look forward to the future and the transformation to transparency and justice in our county.
 

We are going to go into moderation mode for appox. 3 hours starting in a few minutes, please continue your posts and we will put them up after we are done. For those of you going to the fund raiser we will see you there. We will return to regular programming in appox. 3 hours.
 

This is the Lovelace group, tonight was an amazing night at the Rivero fundraiser at Konocti Vista, we made a specific count of 147 people in attendance, a huge turnout, everyone fit in the room but it was tight!!! The most wonderful togetherness in that room, people coming together for this cause, everyone supporting Frank people talking and discussing the last week of the election, good people, kind people, people who care so much. The lovelace group is expanding and growing. Everyone was touched by the understanding that all of us were there to support change and the move to transparency and justice.

You could feel the winning attitude, you could see the look in peoples eyes saying you know what we are going to do this. Frank gave a heartfelt speech, and everyone was with him. We got to meet many people we had only talked to via the E-mail account or on the thread, and these are genuine down to earth people. Many were there, Beland was there Morshed was there, Don Anderson was there, so many people from across the community it is hard to list them all. Lenny was there, good people, nothing phoney about them.

Frank was so grateful, he rallied the troops and the campaign plan they have in place for the last week is amazing, all the bases will be covered, and possible hands being shaken, and a positive attitude from everyone we came away happy and grateful that such fine people were supporting Frank and had come together for this common cause.

I'm sorry for your loss. However, I know this for a fact: If, for whatever reason, the EMTs suspected that your dad was dangerous or were told that he had a weapon, they aren't allowed to go near him until LE arrives.

I was at the Rivero dinner/fund raiser. I haven't been to the casino in years and I was surprised on how good the prime rib was.

It was a who's who yhere. The lovelace group, Beland, Morshed, Ringen, Doug Rhoads and Don Anderson. YES BOTH WERE THERE!!! I saw a lot of elderly persons, business attire adults and a few hippies (sorry don't know how else to put it). Hey Mitchell or McMahon, were was the so called criminals?

Frank was in a very happy mood to see the large turnout. 147 was the count, but several more persons appeared after the count. I think the ending count was more like 160 because a few had to stand outside. Rhoades and Anderson were very nice and said a few good jokes at my table. The owner of Mackey Tires was there along with a few other business owners.

Wow what a great turnout last night at the Rivero function I had a great time and everyone else did to. That was the most heartfelt speech Frank gave, and the peopple were just great, from all walks of life, the diversity was amazing, Great night!!!

Deputy Steve Brooks, in his letter to the editor, totally misrepresents Frank Rivero's position on marijuana. He twists Rivero's position far beyond recognition.

I was not at the Upper Lake event, but my understanding of Rivero's position from the multiple debates is that with limited and dwindling county resources, marijuana, and especially medical marijuana, should be the lowest law enforcement priority. Instead, Rivero would put Lake County's limited resources into fighting methamphetamine, the real drug problem here.

Rivero has specifically stated that he would continue to go after the large criminal grows, but not the small growers or medical marijuana growing collectives. Also, Rivero's position is that our county's limited resources should not be spent trying to fight the huge organized crime grows in the national forests, this is primarily the job of the well-funded agencies the Campaign Against Marijuana Planting (CAMP) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Of course, the real answer is full legalization for "recreational" as well as medical use. We will get a chance to vote on this in November. This would, in the long run, if not immediately, bring the price of marijuana way, way down, take the huge profit out of the illegal national forest grows, and thus eliminate them. And, as a bonus it might just save California's economy.

The Sheriff Rod Mitchell camp is desperate and throwing in the kitchen sink (instead of the towel) at this point in the campaign. If Lake County reelects Mitchell (and District Attorney Jon Hopkins) the entire state (if not the entire country) is going to think we are all nuts.

Attempted murder by the LCSO goon squad and doctors to back up this claim that are world known. Not just Lake county. Boy oh boy Rodney! You sure stepped in the dog poo on this one. LMAO! Lawsuit? It was a GREAT NIGHT for FRANK!. It was Wonderful to see Frank Smiling and enjoying the evening. And Unlike Mitchell's Dinner/Fund Raiser, FRANK TOOK THE HIGH ROAD. It was not an evening of passing out Collectible Booking Photo's and Slandering his Opponent, It was all Positive Thoughts and Plans for the Future. And of course, the best thing about living here in Lake County USA.. The vast array Residents from all walks of Life coming together for a common cause. And that common cause is to get a "REAL" Sheriff (not to mention Honest) in charge of this county!

We had a great evening too, and it would have been totally perfect if "Wanna Be DA" Rhoades would have spared us from seeing his ugly mug and stayed home. Not to mention what a RUDE, LOW CLASS POMPASS ASS HE IS. And how "Professional" he was when Donny Anderson entered the room.
He commented very loudly to a group of people "Gee, Donny needs a Treadmill to get rid of his Beer Gut" then commented "Wow!, looks like Don dressed up this evening!" (Don had been working all day, but wanted to swing by and show his support for Frank and was just in a clean pair of jeans and Chambray Shirt) THIS WOULD BE A PERFECT EXAMPLE AS TO WHY RHOADES WOULD BE NO BETTER THAN HOPKINS...LAST NIGHTS COMMENTS HAD THE RUDE AND UN-PROFESSIONAL OVERTONES OF THE "DRUNKEN SAILOR" COMMENT! Hey Rhoades, at least Don can work off a few pounds and look great, no matter what you do, you will always be Ugly. Plus Donny is alot Healthier than you are!

It was a great night, classy people, sharp people, actually intelligent forward thinking citizens, a general air of confidence, I tell you what when Rivero wins we expect the BOS and all Media to issue a statement of thanks to the Rivero supporters for saving the county. As Ron Green said if Mitchell was to have won the election, which he won't Lake County would be seen as the laughing stock of the state and the country, and in fact the world. We would be seen as the lowest of the low, the most ignorant county to be found in our state and the county would continue to dive into obscurity. What a shame that would be. Let's not slow up over the Memorial day weekend, every single person you talk to ask them for the Rivero vote. We have momentum now and the task at hand is to press hard the last week. We hope Frank can use the fundraising money from last night to fire off the last weeks salvo of campaigning and put the final nail in the Mitchell Hopkins coffin.

Question I got some information that Jeff Markham was a Mitchell clone, and that he had a sexual harassment suit filed on the county and the county paid, does anyone have the details on that situation? Dates, who was harassed etc?
 

This is so interesting, for many many months now the corruption supporters have been hammering this site and this citizens group, for being nothing, small timers 2 or 3 people only, worthless, etc etc. Then why are they all so worried about you guys, LCN, Mitchell, Rob Brown, the corruption boys in the SO, Record Bee, the other supervisors, amazing to me. That is correct post 1240 and we are a 10 month old system, it is amazing really, to reach this level so quickly and to have so many on the run and scared to death of our site is a sure sign of its success. Now what you will see is these poor saps trying to compare numbers trying to make themselves fell better in their fear. Look how long LCN has kept up the opinion piece that made them look so bad. Yet they keep it there out of fear. All these are signs of fear and concern. The funny thing is we have just started really, I think the fact that they have taken us so lightly caught up with them real quick, and we were able to penetrate all the little hiding places and the actual agenda of LCN and the rest that the exposure just scared the hell out of them. Well we have always said we love to be the underdog. The critical endgame of this is that, in reality these people John, Liz, Brown, all three shilling for Mitchell and they are simply not the sharpest sticks in the wood pile. We actually were quite surprise at how we were able to out game them at every step of this last couple of months, they were and are really back on their heels. Well much more to come, and we love the support!!!

A long line is forming to replace Danner if he leaves. At last count nine attorneys--six internally, including Canlis, and three outside the DA's office--have expressed some level of interest in the job.
The four most often mentioned candidates, besides Canlis, are Danner's other chief deputy, Jon Hopkins, and assistant DAs Bob Lee, Ariadne Symons and Christine McGuire. A fifth assistant DA, Jim Jackson, says he is not pursuing it, but he hasn't ruled himself out either. Jackson is a former public defender who has the distinction of having represented serial killers Edmond Kemper, Herbert Mullin and John Linley Frazier, who together made Santa Cruz the so-called murder capital of the world in the early '70s.

The candidate besides Canlis with the most to lose in the process is Hopkins, whose role has been eclipsed as Canlis' has grown. His position is not protected by civil service, so if Danner gets the judicial appointment, Hopkins may soon be out of a job anyway, forced to step aside so a new DA can pick his or her own chief deputy. Many believe Danner would try to find a way to get rid of him before he takes the judgeship, if it is offered; doing so would allow Canlis to become acting DA, clearing up any confusion during the transition. Giving her a chance to run the office alone while the supervisors deliberate might also give Canlis a leg up.

Danner would not confirm or deny those rumors but did say there had been discussions between himself and Hopkins over the latter's future.
"Jon has told me that he wants to obtain employment elsewhere, and it may be that he does before my term ends," Danner says. "I've urged him to look at those options."
"I haven't had any conversation where I've told him I wanted to leave before he gets appointed," counters Hopkins.

Except for one year spent as executive director of the California District Attorneys Association, from 1986 to 1987 (three years before Canlis), Hopkins has worked in the Santa Cruz County DA's office since 1979. He recently returned from trying a homicide case in Lake County--an assignment some thought of as a form of temporary exile.
At a recent fundraiser for Second Harvest Food Bank, Hopkins was seen huddling with incoming Supervisor Tony Campos, who some think may be the swing vote. Hopkins says, incredibly, that he did not talk about the DA job with Campos. Campos did not return phone calls. Hopkins says he hasn't made up his mind about running in 2000 if he is not appointed, but some observers believe he will.

Today at the Lakeport Memorial Day parade as Rivero was driving past the judges booth, it was announced that Rob Mitchell wasn't attending do to illness. The spectators began clapping and laughing saying things like: Mitchell was not there because he was scared to face the crowd. If it hadn't been so funny, it would have been sad! Looks like the start of a bad week for Rod.
 

11:45 I agree with your comment how unprofessional Doug Rhoades' comment was, about Anderson needing to get on a treadmill. I might add that Rhoeads does not have need for a treadmill, he has got enough exercise running from a fight. Both as an attorney and a deputy he has shown his cowardice.

As an attorney he has a way of selling out his clients. He is either afraid to go to trial or just to lazy. That is why his reputation is Dump Truck Doug. He will only take a case to trial if his clients insist.

As a deputy sheriff he always ran or stood my an watched as other deputies would fight. As an example, he stood by his patrol car and watched as gang members jumped Officer McGaugh at the Lakeport park. Thanks to other citizens McGaugh was not seriously hurt.

Then there was the time he stood by an watched as deputies Vern Huggins and Tom Jolin had to fight for their lives against four attackers. He against watched and did not join the fight.

He also took about 25 minutes to make a 15 minute drive over Cobb to back up Don Anderson when he was in a gun fight with two killers.

These are only a few examples of Doug Rhoades' charactor. Not someone I want as a crime fighter.

Hey 834, another think I noticed at the Memorial Day parade was Hopkins riding in the back of a car wearing a red, white and blue tie. Rhoades also road in the back of a car dress all white like Col. Sanders, but without the Chicken wings. Both seemed so fake and lazy.

Don Anderson walked the entire way with his children and grand children. When he passed by me one of his granddaughters was asleep in his arms. He seemed like a genuine family man with a heart.

I was told that Mitchell was somewhere in the crowd. Does not make any sense why he would not have been in the parade. I was not there but was told by a couple people that they saw him there. Again, does not make any sense why he would not have strolled down the road with the others. You know how he likes to be the center of attention.

You could argue that Rhoades was not the best road Deputy, but you would be hard pressed to find a better patrol supervisor. Supervising people is different than working the street. Rhoades is exceptionally smart, knows pretty much everything, he is the one you would want to call on that pyramid show for the right answer. Anderson on the other hand was a good road Deputy, that never got promoted to supervisor because he was the DSA President before Ringen. Anderson will have your back, but he hasn't had the experience of supervising a bunch of Deputies. For me it's a tough call. Anderson is someone I would like coming to back me up, but Rhoades is someone that can supervise people and bring out the best in them. Either one is waaaaaay better than what is in there now!

At this point it goes to character. At least for me it does. Doug has had an on going affair for years. Now I know that's his personal business but it doesn't set well with me. The scuttle about Kv lumber and Piedmont....old news and it's something that Don will need to litigate with the old girlfriend who ran up the bills in his name. Appears to me with the economy there's a lot of Lake County builders, contractors who owe KV lumber and Peidmont money. The Garzoli issue...I remember very well Mitchell's first words on the matter and it seems like he kind of turn coated it. I know there's a lot of people out there that have issues with gazoli but if you take the one incident, the helicopter issue, Garzoli was not in the wrong. When you have a Supervisor approving your grants/requests etc where did he go wrong? and remember we are only talking the one issue here. Hopkins has brought shame on Lake County but not as much as Mitchell. Mitchell has shamed the community and his family. Word is that he has moved out of the family home per his wifes request. Guess she won't be voting for him? Keep up the good work Lovelace. Keep it honest and factual. On June 8th I will be voting No on ever initiative and voting yes for Anderson and Rivero. Promise that when Rob Brown is up for re-election - assuming he will run again - that we can finally boot him out on his rump. Vote for Wally. And pw and js - go find something better to do wiill ya. granola gate my rear.

The only aspect of Garzoli that taints him even more for us is the Helo and Insurance forum conversations. these were along with the KGO audios damaging evidence of his understanding that what he was doing was illegal, His comments concerning how he would scam customers by using crime stats was telling enough, but when he clearly talks about flying for an hour, the having lunch and then training for an hour which he clearly stated in the forums leaves his credibility in great doubt.

Last most forget something we already have pointed out, Garzoli has a friend, a very good friend, his name is Brendon Burkhart (sp) head DEA agent in our area. Burkhart knows exactly what Garzoli was doing, and he also knows it was wrong, this is the reason the DEA shut down any response and said case closed, they did not want that little fact brought out in the open.

So anyway great post's just wanted to add that in on Garzoli.

But then I wonder, who put the press on him to go forward? Was it Mitchell? Was it the BOS? It's a small town and there is a lot of back door talk that shouldn't happen. I hope I can trust Anderson and Rivero. I feel like I can and I hope I can. And that's more than I feel now towards Hopkins and Mitchell.

What a terrible day for Mitchell yesterday, this guy took more hits then an over the hill prize fighter. Starting from call number 1, he can't seem to get a call in from a single supporter. Here is how Baxter see's his role, now that he feels Mitchell is on the edge, he is echoing Rivero, in this way he is hoping that a run-off happens between him and Rivero. In the beginning he was just the guy who would let Rivero and Mitchell beat the hell out of each other, and then slide in with a calming voice. It is an old ruse used many times before when you come into a race third man out, you wait to see who is getting hammered the worse echo the other persons position and hope to get into the final two. Mitchell knows his base of voters is his base of voters he is not going to get any new votes, he only has votes to lose. The numbers are going to be interesting on election day.
 

Of course nothing in LCN on the debates, did not we hear LCN's excuse when they were doing the debates at middletown etc. that because they were conducting the debates they could not or did not have the time to write stories on them. Well now they are not conducting the debates and they did not report on them because???
 

Went to the ChickaQue out at Spring Valley last night. While meeting lots of People and having conversation, I take note that there were 4 people who stated that they just registered to vote on the last day. Their family and friends convinced them that this was the year if any to do so. Curious, would like to know just how many new registered voters we have had this year? I'm sure those numbers will speak volumes! They all want the change and Rivero and Anderson are it. They like Rivero for stepping forward and exposing Mitchell and the way he trys to run his department and they love the fact that Don Anderson is a down to earth, family man who quietly sits back and watches and listens and does the job he is suppose to do!
Rushing is out, because they all have children and love to ride bikes, and rushing wants to take that away for the families who spend quality time together doing so. They are Jeff Smith because they like the fact that this man is a go getter and has common sense. So I see Mitchell likes the numbers game. So Rod can you get me the info as to the numbers of New Registered Voters? Or are you afraid to expose this fact!

To yesterday's post 8:34 pm -- the Spectators were probably right about Mitchell. I know for a fact that he was back at the staging area in his ever-present polo shirt at around 10:00 am yesterday, as were Rivero and Baxter both. However, Rivero and Baxter were talking to everybody back there, while they were decorating their cars, etc. Mitchell walked around back there for quite a while, and didn't look sick to me (unless stage fright is an illness...) I personally saw and heard him stop and speak to one of the Veterans who was decorating their vehicle at the fairgrounds. He didn't talk to anyone else, though. The other two were very pleasant and down to earth; it was fun talking with them while I decorated my vehicle (the red jeep right between the National Guard humvee and Baxter's red jeep) Rod doesn't appear to want to talk to anyone except someone he perceives as possibly having some position that will be beneficial to him politically. The other two are more than happy to speak to the rest of us! Hopefully, if there is a run-off election, it will be between Rivero and Baxter.
 

I like Mrs. Rushing and think she is hope for Lake County.
 

Frank, welcome aboard! Glad to see you are with us. I know you did a lot of checking and comparing concerning the candidates. I knew that after you had completed your investigation, you would find that Rivero was the best choice.

I happened to get a look at the packet of materials that Rod handed out at his Blue Lakes shindig; not sure if there was a cost for admission or not as someone mentioned in a previous post, but the 2 people I got the packet from attended for free (maybe they were trying to fill the room? I dunno....) There was a copy of an email that Rivero had sent out to his subordinate deputies - not sure why that was in there, as there didn't appear to be anything wrong with it. I'm not sure why Rod would hand that out. The "statistics" regarding Frank's minority arrests vs. Chwialkowski's are meaningless without knowing which demographic areas of the County the deputies were working, and how many total number of arrests each had. Overall, when you looked at the numbers, they both had approximately the same amount of "whites" arrested, and the same amount of minorities (Hispanic and other). Only the amount of Hispanic differed by 10% -- but this doesn't take into account the mixed-race peoples who must choose one or the other in order to fit into a check-box. Another explanation is likely that Frank speaks fluent Spanish - makes sense that a Spanish-speaking officer would be dispatched to make the arrest on non-english speakers more often, to ensure that there is no issue at trial with the legality of the arrest. The printout of Rivero's court case in San Francisco only contained about half of the pages, either intentional or a shoddy copy job; no matter, it is meaningless as prepared in either case.

Did anyone else notice that the full-color mug shot of Tom Carter from Sonoma County was marked in the lower left corner "for law enforcement use only"? Seems to me that handing it out to the public in order to stump for yourself in a campaign is not the "law enforcement use" that was intended. I think I might just notify someone about that....Sorry I missed the Blue Lakes thing. I had a few questions I would have liked to have asked him face to face.
 

Rushing has gotten herself in deeper then she would have wanted to. She followed the other BOS members far to much including Rob Brown, he and others played her and caused her to become non-effective in these elections. In regards to her son, he is a sharp and intelligent young man, he is a great asset to the lovelace group, will be one of the editors on the new newspaper, and is quick and on his game. His mothers greatest concern was more for her own reputation and not that of supporting the efforts of her son. He took up a strong and important cause, and has been working in that vain for many months now. I am not an official member of the Lovelace group but I know the back-ground and I know Rushing. Fact of the matter is Rushing likens herself to be an activist, but it really is just being a ploy. She has never really gone after a cause and put herself out there. Image is to important. What you generally here from Rushing is not the reality. Who to vote for, you have a choice of Rushing or Hesterberg, Hesterberg will get the Dennis Yow type votes and those of the more conservative leanings. Denise will get the Victoria Brandon crowd, and the majority of the voters who vote for Rushing will vote for Rivero, there will be some exceptions such as Baxter but not to many. None who cast a vote for Rushing will cast a vote for Mitchell. Rushing will win this election I would be surprised to see Hesterberg able to pull a run-off but it could happen, many former Gary Lewis voters will vote for Hesterberg to try and force a run-off, Gary is in it only to try and force that runoff, he is still smarting from the election 4 years ago.
 

Post 948, that is interesting information and it appears the Mitchell may have committed an illegal act. Many questions come to mind, since this was a federal arrest which by the way appears to be going now-where fast, how did Mitchell get the for "Law enforcement use only" material??? Had to come out of Sonoma right? Isnt that where this would have to be gotten at? Hmmmmmmmmm who gave it to Mitchell, and is it authorized to be used in a campaign stunt? I think Mr. Mitchell may have gotten himself in a bit of a sticky wicket on this one. Do the feds in an ongoing case allow for the use of their material for local campaigns. Who authorized that this could be used, or did Mitchell obtain it without telling some one he got it for that purpose. Something is not right here and needs to be looked at prior to the election. This could be a bad deal for Mitchell.
 

9:32 We also saw Rod at the parade yesterday. When the parade was over he was walking down by the Fire Dept. he then saw a woman he knew and gave her a big hug. Now i read on here that he was suppose to be sick. Sorry he didn't look sick to me and to hug someone if you are sick?
 

Those that would vote for Mitchell are the ones that would vote for Lewis they go back along way I have said all along I was in hopes Mrs.Rushing would be our Mr.Smith but being around so much dishonesty and a political virgin thinking like most those she worked with would not be honest. she knew not the likes of Farrington ,Brown. I have hope for us all that she will grab hold and shake out the dishonest in this local system. Hope her son and her can come to some accord.
