Information from a reliable source has stated former Lake County Sheriff Sgt. Mike Morshed who was terminated for supposedly leaking a rims report has been in contact with EEOC out of San Francisco, CA. Apparently he has been cleared to file a lawsuit in Federal Court for discrimination accompanied with a the complaint of a hostile working environment, embarrassment and humiliation that he has had to endure and will continue to endure when he attempts to find other employment. This is very close to what Garzoli has just filed. The county of lake and Sheriff Rod Mitchell are supposed to be the parties named in the federal suit which is going to be filed in the San Francisco Federal Court within the next few weeks. By the way, Sheriff Mitchell never found ANYTHING illegal on Morshed’s personal or departmental property.
 

Holy Crap the county better move mitchell to san francisco he is going to be spending a lot of time there .

12:46- I agree with you. If it does come down to this I believe Baxters votes will go to Rivero due to the fact that they at all their debates have been on the same page on most everything. Post 10:18 AM, All of Beland's IAs were done by Brown. As for it being a conflict of interest, I don't know. Brown would have been assigned the investigations by Mitchell. And, Brown would never say he did not like Beland because then someone would realize he had an ax to grind with Beland. Also, I have no idea if Beland filed any complaints concerning Brown.

Post 10:46 AM, there are, I repeat are,two (2) people with the name of Steve Brooks. One is an attorney and the other is a deputy with the Sheriff's Dept. and is currently assigned to detectives. And they do not look anything alike.

Attorney Steve Brooks is the city attorney and I believe he is still on the Kelseyville Fire Board. Attorney Steve Brooks has a beard. They do not look anything alike.

I worked with Beland for years at LCSO and he never "rubbed me the wrong way." He was always kind and professional...Kip he didn't rub anyone wrong any more than you did and I loved you to death....I just don't see where this attack on him is coming from and what does it have to do with his job performance...I always thought it was nice that Beland was from another county and not one of the good old boys born and bred in Lake County. If I remember right, he worked in Ridgecrest for another agency and did a great job...Just because he kept to himself, do not mistake that for being anything but quiet. There were ALOT of deputies that were assholes and Beland was not one of them.
 

Some were in uniform when they asked to put up Mitchell's signs so I wouldn't put it past them to be in uniform when they asked? to take down a Rivero sign.

assigned herein):
Deputy 1" is alleged to have driven his on duty patrol vehicle as a practical joke over 100
MPH while being pursued by his own department;
Deputy 2: is alleged to have misappropriated government funds by seeking private helicopter
lessons;
Deputy 3: is alleged to have discharged his weapon during horseplay while at a substation;
Deputy 4 is alleged to have discharged his weapon during training damaging an interior wall;
Deputy 5: is alleged to have discharged his weapon at the Sheriff's Main Office damaging the
floor;
Deputy 6: is alleged to have been terminated for being drunk on duty;
Deputy 7: is alleged to have stolen prepared food from jail detainees and thereafter contacted
witnesses to interfere with the investigation;
Deputy 8: is alleged to have used his taser in an off duty incident involving alcohol;
Deputy 9: is alleged to have aimed his duty revolver at another deputy while in a highly
intoxicated state;
Deputy 10: is alleged to have had an ongoing sexual relationship with a witness to a crime;
Deputy 11: is alleged to have had and ongoing sexual relationship with a primary witness in a
homicide;
Deputy 12: is alleged to have had an ongoing sexual relationship with a supervising Deputy's
wife who threatened the Deputy until he resigned;
Deputy 13: is alleged to have had ongoing sexual relations with another member of the
department while on duty;
Deputy 14: is alleged to have had made racial remarks resulting in a lawsuit against the
Department;
Deputy 15: is alleged to have physically battered a female deputy during a disagreement
alleging that women did not belong in law enforcement;

Deputy 16: is alleged to repeatedly make racist or national origin comments which are
offensive to the Deputies involved;
Deputy 17: is alleged to have damaged County property during a temper rage after an
unwanted assignment;
Deputy 18: is alleged to have battered another on duty deputy during a dispute wherein the
assaulting deputy threw a phone at the deputy striking him in the head;
Deputy 19: is alleged to have falsified time cards thereby collecting county funds without
working;
Deputy 20: is alleged to have repeatedly viewed porn sites on duty then displaying the porn
sites to other deputies;
Deputy 21: is alleged to have struck a woman and killed her in a boating incident;
Deputy 22: is alleged to have responded to SWAT call outs in an intoxicated state;
Deputy 23: is alleged to have been accused of having sex with a minor and thereafter lied
about such conduct during an investigation;
Deputy 24: is alleged to have been terminated for insubordination after hearing.
30. The purpose of this writ is to identify in camera the resulting discipline of these
deputies. Petitioner alleges that the discipline administered herein is based on favoritism without
regard to allegations. Further, that favored deputies are not disciplined at all. As such, this writ
alleges material, probative and relevant conduct for proof in the administrative hearing now pending.
 

Steve Brooks, the Lakeport City Attorney is blond and wears glasses, the SO Detective Steve Brooks is dark haired and does not wear glasses (at least that I've seen) Sheeesh, don't just run with the first thing that you hear, investigate a little before you put yourself out there.
 

Flash update to the citizens of Lake County, As you recall in the still posted opinion piece put out by Liz Larsen and John Jensen there was a section in their attack concerning Bruce Forsythe's family living on Denise Rushings orchard, as you may remember it was indicated that Denise said we were evicted, amongst all of the lies and dis-information we exposed, this was one where we said that is a total lie, amongst many other listed items, and asked them to prove it and suggested they would not be able to as there was no eviction, but only a clean orderly by the prescribed date move out. And that is exactly what it was.

Guess what citizens, that portion of the article still posted on the LCN page is gone!! It has been removed without a retraction, or a word said, by Denise or by the LCN. Just gone! Well well being smarter then the average bear, the Lovelace group has both copies, the original and the redone version. We suspect either John or Liz made it up, and we suspect if Denise did not tell them that she went to them and told them to remove it before she gets a libel lawsuit handed to her. Of course it is to late for that. We also think they were hoping we did not catch this stupid lying mistake on their part. This totally destroys on a permanent level the credibility of LCN, and the fabricated opinion piece they tried to create. Now we have a lot of options in this regard, but because we are also going to be loooking at other options of a greater nature we will hold our next actions close to our vest for now.

As some of you may know the statute of limitations for a newspaper to file a libel suit against them is twenty days to file the intent. We are investigating the definition of a newspaper in legal standards, and other options as well. There are bigger fish we are in the middle getting ready to fry right now, so this is just one of the many issues we are looking at and it may be utilzed as part of a bigger filing or action. At anyrate, we wanted to update the citizens on this matter, and you can be sure that in due time we will have further updates.

So they did not think we would notice when they just sort of removed that from the article, by the way can anyone remember when LCN has left an opinion piece up for so long they posted it on the 17th...lol It aint that great John and Liz, you can take it down now...LOL and remember it has hurt you more then who you were falsely attacking..

I am not picking on him. Alot of the guys didn't get along with me. And besides, the only reason I made any comment about it was because a couple people had asked what my take was on Beland getting railroaded. Take it for what it is worth, one person's observations and opinion.

Officer Brady was hired about 8 years ago as I recall, his impending dismissal has nothing to do with the departments lay offs, I hope he is reading this blog but because he cannot talk about his situation unless he gives up that right only people who are on the inside and know something can even clue us in. I still say it is racially motivated, do any of you know how Black friendly our city is ?

I am a black women with adult children and from time to time I like to step out and have a nice dinner and a cocktail, I was pleased to see the Silk's place here in town open up,as I have eaten many times at the other business that is/was a BBQ, yes it is owned by Andre' who is also black, the city is not at all cordial to him or his business, he has to maintain two uniformed guards when he is open for business, yet down the road is a Irish Pub who is same type of establishment and yet no guards, it sends a message to our community that our city is showing a form of bias.

Post 848, the first and most important step is the upcoming vote, everything you can do to help the cause for Rivero and open gateway for change is the first step. We have said many times that when the first aspect of what we are trying to do is complete, and Mitchell and Hopkins are gone, a new leader is in place and the first steps are complete, we will begin to look more in depth at other situations. One of those areas is Clearlake. We wish we knew the situation with Officer Brady, but we simply do not have any information right now.

On to the racial bias you mention, indeed you are correct it does exist and the demographics and background of some of to much of our population base is racially bias. It is sad but true, and that as well must change.

Great post 941, what we and the citizens are doing at this stage is planting the seeds of change, it is the first step or phase of many to come. Now more then ever the man on the street, the average joe or jane is not happy and getting less happy all the time, it is not just our little county, it is the state the country the world that is seeking change. Witness the uprising in Greece, witness the growing numbers everywhere who are using technology and our ability to communicate with each other instantly to come together and as we say provide "A voice for the voiceless"..Our county has an elitist network a connection if you will to those that do not want change for want of power and maintaining their connections, this network is afraid of change, we know that. Those that would disparage us fail to understand the determination of those who are not blinded by their own want of power and connection. But, we really, really need a new district attorney with better judgment than Hopkins. Hopkins has repeatedly demonstrated that he lacks good judgment and common sense.

As an attorney, I am appalled at Hopkins’ incompetence and awful decision-making. He has embarrassed Lake County and cost the taxpayers a great amount of money in his unsuccessful and ill-advised prosecutions of Bismarck Dinius and also Renato Hughes. These two cases were knuckle-headed and embarrassing prosecutions, and were publicized statewide and nationwide, giving Lake County very bad publicity.

In the Dinius case, Hopkins failed to heed the advice of Langen, the Assistant DA who was handling the Dinius prosecution before Hopkins. Langen knew the case was unwinnable and wanted to dismiss the case, Hopkins would not let him, Langen refused to try it and threatened to resign if forced to try the case, and this is why Hopkins took it over shortly before trial.

Hopkins' open letter published in the middle of the Dinius jury selection was extremely inappropriate, and his lack of forthrightness about the bar investigation was unfortunate.

Please vote NO on Hopkins. I'm voting for Rhoades, but Anderson is also a better choice than Hopkins.
 

How many of us are sickened by the outward dishonesty and disorganized organized crime of the Mitchell regime? It is clear that the whole bunch of misfits must be flushed out and down. This is a post on Sailing Anarchy from "Keith V" who was responding to a post from an individual thinking that posting of the information we have been providing to SA was not necessary. Keith V straightens him right out. We appreciate his help and input. Below his post is our reply to him.


Actually, this is right place to post those comments. Perhaps this group is categorized incorrectly, but from the outset it was created generally to act as a single forum for duscussions about the upcoming Lake County elections and specifically to gather, discuss and forward information to LCN to help see that Mitchell and Hopkins don't get re-elected.

With each new article, evidence, data, etc. that I've read since I got involved, I have been increasingly disgusted by Mitchell, Hopkins and all the other GOB's. (BTW, I'm the one that compiled the body of initial material that enzof used as the foundation for "The Strange Case of Bismark Dinius", so that's a long time and a lot of reading. http://justicefordin...rck_Dinius.html)

If all were going to plan, we would be feeding information to LCN as ammunition to do exactly what the topic says: Clean Up Clear Lake. LCN would be running stories and posting videos of the debates and generally informing the people. Enzof in turn would be adding them to the ever growing website as a secondary news source.

Unfortunately, LCN has decided to not do their job, which is tragic after their excellent coverage of the Dinius trial. (Kinda makes me wonder if LCN senior staff isn't getting their cut of something, or if the GOB's have some dirt on them. Seriously, this place is almost as bad as that town in the movie Roadhouse, minus the monster truck driving through the local auto dealership.)

Frankly, I fear for the citizens of Lake County. Given the lack of adequate pre-election coverage, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mitchell and/or Hopkins get re-elected and watch the problems simply continue.

None the less, this forum is precisely and exactly the place to post anything related to Lake County and the need for them to clean up their mess. ... That's why enzof started it.

We are working as hard as we can to ensure that Mitchell and Hopkins do not get re-elected the image that would portray of our county would be the final nail in the coffin for our county. Jon Hopkins has done more than ANY other individual to damage the reputation, image and economy of Lake County-plus he's been a major drain on the taxpayers and hasn't shown ANY sign of knowing what the word "ethics' means. This is an good example: on at least two occassions he has said that the reason his conviction rates are so low is that he files charges on cases that other DAs think are too weak to win because hopkin's DDAs need the training! So we waste the time of judges, jurors, witnesses and maybe send innocent people to jail so DDAs can get in some practice-isn't that swell?
Hoppy blew the hughes case big-time, and that was VERY expensive and unnessesary, then he went on to blow the Dinius case too, he showed a total lack of ethics and good judgement both times and it's cost us HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS SO FAR and will run into the MILLIONS when all the lawsuits are over. Don and Doug couldn't do worse if they tried!

Rivero win: Immediate vote of no-confidence from DSA, lots and lots of posturing, finger pointing and blame cast out by impotent Sheriff battling with every other agency. Hefty learning curve as deputy struggles to learn what the Sheriff really does and loss of needed grant dollars. Increase in illegal grows in national forests, more violence and crime associated with illegal grows up there behind Upper Lake and probable heavy duty DEA intrusion since Rivero sits on his hands and lets it happen.

Baxter win: Immediate appointment of second sheriff, most likely Howe, to help Baxter get the job done. Nonstop abuse from the anarchist crowd trying as hard as they can, remember the numerous Ken Starr Clinton 'investigations', to derail the Sheriff. Deputies support the Sheriff and continue to restore morale. Lots of empty threats and lawsuits thrown out as baseless. Plenty of counter suits as well no doubt.

You stand in the middle of a total mess, a complete nightmare of mis-management and leadership, 24 listed instances in the Beland Writ, the Dinius nightmare, the increasing crime rate, a disfunctional department, whose DSA is seen as so unimportant that their endorsement backfired as a negative, a sheriff so impotent and see through that it is if not so terrible, funny. You are the king with no clothes, the walls of the kingdom are falling down, and you stand in your ivory tower claiming all is fine. Nice try we don't buy it.

Rivero wins, instant hope comes to the county. Not a care in the world if the now and then defunct DSA issues a statement or not. It is change and change it will. Your prediction of dire consequences with a Rivero win is emotional goo gaa and you know it. The process of taking over any organization or agency with major top level change has been managed for many many years. There are"conversations" that are had, and remember in your world of illusion you fail to understand there are already cops that have gone to Rivero on the side and patted him on the back, they are playing both sides of the line now, because for the first time Mitchell is real vunerable. So the transistion begins, Lake County finally begins the evolution to transparency that many communities have already accomplished, all with the beginning of Frank Rivero winning the election.

As for what the citizens do either way. There is a newspaper coming, the Blog continues regardless of who across the board of the elections wins, all of this continues, we started this without the election in mind, and we will continue to create this change in all areas no matter what the results. We have said this quite often, you may be new to the site. So there is an expansion of this process in the county, and Lovelace and the citizens press for greater and greater change.

I looked at this data too. Why is it that you and Mitchell thinks one year makes a drop in crime? According to your own map, crime still has not dropped from 2007. You decide to show only one year and my bet is you did this just to despite Rivero.

Your anger for Rivero needs to stop. Even the Record Bee showed Beland's court papers front page news but you refused to report on it. You also failed to report that after all these years, Mitchell magically changes the numbers just two weeks before election and there is no way to verify those numbers.

Report the NEWS not the crap.
 

Can I ask? why would you think the Sheriffs office would be the best when you allow the worse to exist.I found nothing funny about their indiscretions. and totaly surprised Mitchell and Hopkins have not slithered out of town or there is those that would like to keep the status quo in place, just more of the same. Lots of angry people here! I can understand your frustration, but what about anger management? What happens if Mitchell does win? Are you going to be "really pissed off". It's all up to the voters and I know many of them who are voting for Mitchell and Rivero, they do not throw mud, nor are they so vulgar, or angry as many of your are. People should be angry post 857, we have the death of a women at the hands of a corrupt sheriff, we have the cover-up of it. We have collusion between local media and Mitchell. We have a fascist system working in the county right now, and people should be angry very angry. The process of taking over any organization or agency with major top level change has been managed for many many years. There are"conversations" that are had, and remember in your world of illusion you fail to understand there are already cops that have gone to Rivero on the side and patted him on the back, they are playing both sides of the line now, because for the first time Mitchell is real vunerable. So the transistion begins, Lake County finally begins the evolution to transparency that many communities have already accomplished, all with the beginning of Frank Rivero winning the election.

As for what the citizens do either way. There is a newspaper coming, the Blog continues regardless of who across the board of the elections wins, all of this continues, we started this without the election in mind, and we will continue to create this change in all areas no matter what the results. We have said this quite often, you may be new to the site. So there is an expansion of this process in the county, and Lovelace and the citizens press for greater and greater change.

As for the question if any of the twenty-four incidents were submitted to the DA, the answer is no. All were handled in-house as personnel complaints.

Even if Rivero is elected, there will be no 'instant change' no matter how much you want it. All of the Deputies working for the S.O. are gauranteed certain rights. Rivero can not just walk in and get rid of the bad apples. There is a process involved and as Sheriff he will be required to follow that process. If either Rivero or Baxter is elected there needs to be some accountability from the Deputies. It is impractical to put everyone on leave while they are in the process of being terminated and appealing their termination. The obvious answer, at least to me, is that whoever the Sheriff is, he needs to tell his subordinates what he expects from them and then hold them accountable for it. If they do not live up to his standards they get terminated, if they do they get to keep their job. No drama no whining no lawsuits. You know what is expected, either do it or leave.

Rob Brown is not to be heard from, nor any of the other supervisors in almost 2 weeks, they have been told to go into hiding, not to respond to e-mails or other communications. A full shut down has been put in place. Rob has been nailed down as well, there is great fear that he has caused potential damage to the county, and he has been told to cease and desist in his antics, and everything has been shut down. Good post 1114, the key to what you said, was exactly what Mitchell does not do. This is the crux of a lot of the lawsuits and specific to Beland, Mitchell picks and chooses, he has his boys which as we now know he does nothing to. He see's who he feel are against him and then goes after them only. There is no defined line as you described like Rivero would have, there is no even and fairly distributed discipline. This very fact is what is going to cause the county a lot of money, as the lawsuits line, up and more are coming by the way, this is a system gone bad, very bad...It has to stop!!

Note that post #2, in which my name was forged and there was a lie posted regarding my endorsement of Rivero, the time was "11 hrs ago" which puts it being posted in the middle of the night. Note also, that under the thread "Hot cars can be fatal" that Adrian Vance posted yet another libelous piece attacking me, unproved, yet again, and yes, it was also posted "11 hrs ago" which leads me to the conclusion we have found the guilty party.

He is not that bright and has till 5 to apologize and promise to stop libeling me or he will soon realize this is the REAL world with REAL consequences for libel. You have till 5 you old loon!

Batman, that is what I think I was saying. Mitchell has never set a standard for his subordinates, and if he has, he keeps it well hidden perhaps from his own troops. And when his Deputies fall short of whatever standards there are, if they even know what they are. Mitchell picks and chooses which cases merit discipline and which ones don't. That leaves a lot of question marks for the Deputies that want to do what is expected. How are they to know if they are doing it? We need a Sheriff that will set standards of conduct that are not in some gray area. They need to know what is expected of them and then given toe tools to accomplish that.

INTERVIEW OF WILLIAM AND JUDY HATFIELD
REGARDING SON’S SUICIDE
IN THE LAKE COUNTY JAIL

This is the situation. I took my wife down and put her in the hospital. She has epilepsy. She had a total collapse at the viewing of her son. Then she had another one. The ambulance took her to the hospital from the mortuary.
We feel Lake County murdered our son.
Our son had been acting funny. He said we were clones. He had a rope with a noose on it hanging in the closet. He kept a butcher knife in the bedroom. He ate bread and water only the last week he was alive. He told his brother, “I’ll see you on the other side.”
We kept telling him to get help.
Saturday May 15 he barricaded himself in the bedroom. He told us he had the room rigged to blow.
I came outside. We called Pat at Mental Health, at the 1-800-Hotline. They sent the police out. The Clearlake City Police arrived, three officers. Three officers attempted to get in the room.
In the meantime my son was scared. My son thought the police were going to kill him.
The Police called three more officers. These three officers were Lake County Sheriffs.
My son had urinated over all over his clothes. He had urinated allover the clothes that were all over the bedroom. He had clothes and stuff laying everywhere. He urinated over the carpet too.
They wrapped him up like suitcase. He was tied up in a fetal position, handcuffed. His hands were cuffed together behind his ankles. His feet were cuffed together. His hands were attached to his feet.
They took him to St Helena Hospital in Clearlake.
Police had charges against him for the arrest. These charges according to the booking detail sheet include battery on a peace officer, resisting a police officer, 148 and 243 PC, also obstructing executive officer, 69PC.
He did fight officers. He was afraid. His name was Jimmy Ray Hatfield.
 

My wife and I were told to stay outside the house. Pat from Mental Health said verbally over the phone we’re going to take him to the hospital. Pat had assessed him at the hospital. She told us that a doctor at the hospital and the officers got together and over rode her assessment. Police took him to jail, not the mental hospital that Pat had recommended.
They put him in a cell by himself with the tools to hang himself.
My wife Judy called nine times Sunday May 16, telling jail personnel to watch him carefully, that he might try to commit suicide. My son’s fiancé Jaime called once and told personnel at the jail that he needed to be in a rubber room.
The jail personnel said they were checking him once an hour. They should have been checking him every 15 minutes.
My son was paranoid. He lost his truck. It was repossessed. He was on unemployment because of the economy.
He had two daughters and an x-girl friend who said, “You can’t see your daughters til you get help.”
My wife called the jail nine times trying to warn them that my son might try to kill himself.
This was a total and complete failure of the system that cost my son his life.
The DA is investigating everything, our side and the jail side.
My son was not a criminal. He was a good kid.
They gave him something to calm him down. The picture they took of him shows bruises we did not see at the time they left with him. The picture showed bruises on his forehead, a goose egg on his head, At the funeral home we saw that he hurt his arm. He had a cracked wrist and a hurt ankle. A mark was under his chin where he hung himself.
We have not gotten all of our son’s property back from the jail. We still have not received our son’s shirt, his wallet, or his cell phone. They say they can’t find this propery.
We didn’t call the police. We called mental health services.
The system they have up here is a total failure.
Two officers came and told us Monday morning May 17 that our son had hung himself at 6:00AM May 17.
 

Oh my God, this is terrible, this brought tears to my eye's and I am not one to cry easily. Watch out for the DA, they are trying to do cover-up work, do not let them do it!!!! Sheriff Mitchell I am lost for words. Your system is a mess, and now another death at the hands of your organization. Get out now, don't bother us with the election. Just get out!!
 

Um yeah. This guy had serous problems. I guess the county could have put him in a straight jacket or subdued him with a hefty dose of Thorazine. From his dad's account he sounds like he was over the edge at the outset. Drugs? Seems likely.
 

How sad for this young man and his parents. 12:44 I hope someday you get a little taste of your own jibberish. A person loses his life and that is all you can say? I'd tell you to get a life but you don't deserve one,,,loser!
 

We are not here to judge this man, drugs no drugs over the edge not over the edge, this was a preventable death, many people in our county have mental health issues, and it is the responsibility of the LE to understand this take the advice of mental health people and do what is right. Period. By the way remember innocent until proven guilty. The system of sheriff Mitchell has caused another death in our county. Sad day for our county.

Post 100 they the parents had been seeking help you do not understand the parental difficulties in these types of situation, the facts were known, the recommendations from mental health were clear, to dump him in a cell at this point regardless of anyone's insensitivities to the situation, was wrong terribly wrong. We cannot disregard the role LE in concert with the facts should have played this is wrong no matter how much one want's to judge a person.
