Oh, I want to play the matching game. I grew up in this county, and I am familiar with most of these stories although there are a few I can't put a name to. Are these 24 separate individuals or is this just listed by incident? The sad thing is, these stories are only a sampling of what has been going on there for years. Speaking of good stuff there is a buzz going on around CPD with the pink slip going out/gone out seems they are targeting people that actually do their jobs and not picking on the higher ups who sit around keeping the Chief company when he does show up about 9 and leaves about 2 and that is only 4 days a week now that guy is a waste should furlough that position, the patrol guys do all the real work hats off to them, have no complaints there, one noticable missing Patrol officer has been Rey Brady, ask around and see what gives did they give him a slip, heck he does a great job, rumor has it he is being targeted for the ax, He is the only Black person at the agency....we need to support keeping him.
 

Officer Brady has been out on Admin leave for a long time, I know someone who knows and that is all they told Me,I doubt he did anything to get in trouble he is one of the many good ones there.

Qucikly with the help of his cohorts my business was dismantled and my home and contents heisted and thus grouyp of thugs tried to ruin me and my family. They ALMOST succeeded, but there will be retrobution it is clear. WRIT OF MANDAMUS

Jim Beland is petitioning the Lake County Superior Court to look at personnel records of 24 deputies within the Lake County Sheriff’s department to discover whether or not there is favoritism within the department.
As part of an administrative proceeding/appeal hearing, Beland is appealing his loss of his position as a Sargeant within the department.
Petition for Writ of Mandamus CV 408733 is a public record file on the fourth floor of the Lake County Courthouse.
Beland was “the supervisor in charge of field training, a hostage negotiator, calibrated PAS units, in charge of mobile Access Visual units of each car, managed a sexual deviant tracking program and was on the gang task force” March 1, 2006, according to the file.
During the trial of Bizmarck Dinius, the writ alleges that not only did Jim Beland testify that he was given directions not to test Russell Perdock with a Preliminary Alcohol Screening device for alcohol on his breath, but Deputy District Attorney John Langan suggested to him in a telephone interview to change his testimony from “ordered” to “discussions” concerning the PAS unit.
Russell Perdock was the Lake County Deputy Undersheriff on the night of April 29, 2006, when he drove his 385 horsepower 24 foot speedboat into the stern of a 27 foot sailboat, killing 51 year old Lyn Thornton.
The Writ states that “he (Perdock) was not put on administrative leave (due to the fatal accident) nor was he charged with any wrong doing though he blatantly violated state law regarding the safe use of a boat.”
Following the DInius trial, “Beland was subject to a continuing barrage of investigations for acts which Sargent Beland did not do or for acts which everyone does but are not disciplined for such behaviors.”
“The internal records of the Sher4iffs Department will reveal a system of discipline where favored officers are given mild treatment for extraordinary offenses”
Some examples given of alleged misconduct by deputies include: speeding at 100 miles per hour while being chased by other law enforcement, misappropriated public funds by seeking private helicopter lessons, discharging weapons into floor and walls at the Sheriff’s main office and during training, stealing of prepared food for inmates and thereafter contacted witnesses to interfere with investigation, using taser guns off duty while involved with alcohol, ongoing sexual involvement with witnesses, ongoing sexual involvement with a primary witness in a homicide, racial remarks, physically battering a female deputy, and sexual activity with another member of the department while on duty.
Deputy 19 is alleged to falsified time cards thereby collecting county funds without working.
Deputy 20 is alleged to have repeatedly viewed porn sites on duty then displaying the porn sites to other deputies.
Deputy 23 is alleged to have been accused of having sex with a minor and thereafter lied about it about such conduct during an investigation.
 

The Record bee did a article on Beland which is getting the word out on Corrupt Mitchell. Lovelace you are right about LCN and they proved you right today. offenses and Petitioner hereby seeks a hearing before this court to reveal the personnel files of the
Deputies pursuant to Evidence Code Section 1043 (To protect the privacy of the deputy, their names
have been eliminated to be revealed upon sealed filing of a corresponding document and a number
assigned herein):

wife who threatened the Deputy until he resigned;
Deputy 13: is alleged to have had ongoing sexual relations with another member of the
department while on duty;
Deputy 14: is alleged to have had made racial remarks resulting in a lawsuit against the
Department;
Deputy 15: is alleged to have physically battered a female deputy during a disagreement
alleging that women did not belong in law enforcement;

Deputy 16: is alleged to repeatedly make racist or national origin comments which are
offensive to the Deputies involved;
Deputy 17: is alleged to have damaged County property during a temper rage after an
unwanted assignment;
Deputy 18: is alleged to have battered another on duty deputy during a dispute wherein the
assaulting deputy threw a phone at the deputy striking him in the head;
Deputy 19: is alleged to have falsified time cards thereby collecting county funds without
working;
Deputy 20: is alleged to have repeatedly viewed porn sites on duty then displaying the porn
sites to other deputies;
Deputy 21: is alleged to have struck a woman and killed her in a boating incident;
Deputy 22: is alleged to have responded to SWAT call outs in an intoxicated state;
Deputy 23: is alleged to have been accused of having sex with a minor and thereafter lied
about such conduct during an investigation;
Deputy 24: is alleged to have been terminated for insubordination after hearing.
30. The purpose of this writ is to identify in camera the resulting discipline of these
deputies. Petitioner alleges that the discipline administered herein is based on favoritism without
regard to allegations. Further, that favored deputies are not disciplined at all. As such, this writ
alleges material, probative and relevant conduct for proof in the administrative hearing now pending.

i am a single mom with to boys and they both went to school in the clearlake area. i saw a post that said officer brady is on leave. both of my boys have been helped by officer brady in the past and they love him. i do not now officer brady very well but i see some of the things he has done for our schools and the kids. if you look at the lake county news all you see is corruption with cops. i know that cops are people to and why would you get rid of one of the good guys. it will be a sad day if that happens and i hope for them that it was a good reasun. we need good news people of lake county not cover ups or scandals. what i know of officer brady is that he is fair even with my kids when they were in trouble.
 

Thank you for your post on Officer Brady, your testimonial is important to clear the air and give all of us cause to look into these practices and decisions that are made in difficult economic times. Sometimes it is used to remove unwanted good cops from corrupt regimes. Thank you for posting with us, and we appreciate your insight and support.

I think the NAACP should get involved and I hope Officer Brady takes that avenue as the charges cannot be valid he follows the letter of the law, perhaps that might be the problem he doesn't look the other way and never skates on issues, fair,understanding,listens to all sides of the problem before making a decision, I know Brady and it ticks me off to see that they are trying to run him out of his career and service to Our community, and then who else will they try and clense from the dept I can guess as there is another who is the right person for the right job, higher ups make fun of the good ones calling them names, yes behind their bad but not out of the earshot of anyone im or around the office area, like a ride along just waiting for an officer, you can hear many things.

Please try to help officer Brady McClain needs to leave we need someone yo stand up to the Cheif puts on a good front, does nothing for the community except getting his photo shoot in the paper.
 

Lake County man held in wifes death "sheriff said he called to report shooting his wife"
Eddie Gillespie phone the LC Sheriff's dispatch center at 620 am to report he short his wife multiple times and that he was prepared to surrender said, Capt. J Bauman.
Gellespie was intructed to disarm himself and go outside-he was taken into custody when deputies arrived and gun- recovered at the scene.
 

People, before you start talking about getting the NAACP or any other group involved, learn what the rules are. Get informed first before you start talking. The way it works, whether you like it or not, is that people within the department will be laid off by seniority, last hired - first fired.

If Officer Brady is at the bottom of the list, he will go.

True post XX, I think the people just need to know that it is being done by a fair system as you describe it, Union protocol does over-ride rational thinking and performance which at times causes better people to be released vs lesser or more corrupt ones. It is sad to say the least, but you are right in this regard. If we can get the information which shows that "bottom of the list" criteria being used, then people would be more understanding I think.
 

Mitchell released revised crime statistics today saying that crime increased by only 13% last year rather than the 22% that was previously reported (see http://www.record-bee.com/ci_15155718); he claims the 22% figure was a “mistake” (oh, and he's not counting crime in Lakeport or Clearlake). How laughable that he would release this “finding” two weeks before the election, or that he thinks we would buy that garbage. It’s a tragic irony that news of the fatal shooting in Clearlake oaks was released at almost the same time.
 

A tragic irony indeed, Now he is trying to say that 13% of the crime was in the combination of the least populated cities in the County. We think on a percentage basis he just screwed him self, because if you take the populuation of Clearlake and Lakeport out of the numbers your percentage of crime to the actual population which are the areas Mitchell only wants to claim is even worse, there is no way, the Pillsbury to Spring Valley cities, and K-ville to MiddleTown should have that great a percentage of the total crime!! While also taking into consideration the more rural nature of those communities it makes Mitchell look really bad. We don think he thought this one al:-)l the way through.
 

May 12th was the filing date stamp on the Beland Superior court document, is that the exact same date as the Garzoli official termination, or do I have that wrong?

At the hearing of this matter, under sworn testimony, deputies has testified to a form of "hunting" that occurs where officers are subject to harassing investigations until thediy capitulate or their credibility is destroyed and they are terminated.

One portion of the document describes a conversation Beland had with Langen, where Langen encouraged Beland to use the "discussion" vs "order" in regards to being told not to test Perdock.
It does bring up an interesting point however, If I was Perdock and having a great understanding of Law and crime and accidents as a cop, and I was stone cold sober wouldn't I demand a PAS or blood alcohol instant to be sure my ass was covered. And wouldn't Mitchell seeing that Perdock was stone cold sober have done the same thing? Something is real fishy here?? Anybody?
 

This is day 138 of Mitchell's failure to resolve his politically motivated I.A. against Francisco Rivero.

Here is an easy way to lose your freedom. Don't register, and don't vote! I can't believe how many people I have talked to that do just that. Try it. Go to stores, and talk to shoppers and checkers. It's unbelievable. Is this because Lake County has been asleep all this time? And, that's why, over the years, the sheriff's department, the courts and county services have built up a network that controls the agenda of the county. Ask anyone who has tried to get help...from the DA to child protection services, and you will find many that wished that they never had. I wish that we could wake up all the citizens that have no clue as to the power and inside collusion that is wielded in county government. Most people that have endured the injustices wrought upon them, are too fearful to openly fight back. They can only secretly tell there close friends, and then ask them to please not tell anyone, lest the powers that be go after them..again. I am looking forward to the publishing of the Lovelace newspaper coming out after the election. This will give everyone a chance to find out what really is going on in Lake County, as opposed to the usual soft journalism displayed by our local news outlets. Only by revolt by the people, will oppression be conquered, and once again create a government by the people and for he people. Frank Rivero is the man that will enable the people of Lake County to do just that, by starting with a sheriff's department that truly listens to the people, and respects their rights, whether they are white, black, red, brown, senior citizens, or children.

Just read the Beland report! Thank You James for stepping up to the plate. It takes a man of not only integrity but courage as well, to do what you are doing now. The timing couldn't have been better although I know you have suffered a great deal. I'm sure with this report you have many within the department working up a sweat by now. I pray the courts find in your favor and release the files. Eventhough, it makes me wonder just how much is going on in the department at this very moment to cover whatever they can up! I went back and read the LCN report about Beland's termination. I see it had nothing to do with any crime. I then read Beland's court papers on Rivero's website. I saw several deputies listed who committed crimes but were not terminated. What the heck is that about?

I am pretty sure Officer Brady is in the top 5 in seniority in the patrol division at CPD. I knew him years back when he worked in the schools as the on-site officer. He was fantastic with the kids and I must say even the kids in trouble showed him respect. He seems like a good man and I cant imagine what he could have down to deserve this. I have lived in the area for many years and haven't seen professionalism and honesty like Officer Brady has displayed. Clearlake needs this caliber of a person in their department.

One would think Officer Brady would be contemplating some sort of action if the seniority is what is described, there must be more to it, if as XX says it is soley based on senority. This evening at his gathering at Blue Lake Lodge, he claimed that the increase was just 11% and gave a long explanation about how the 2 key is right next to the 1 key; someone missed the 1 key and typed in 22 instead of 11. By midnight, Rodney expects to erase all evidence of any crime committed in 2009 as thoroughly as he erased Purdock’s crimes.
 

Lovelace does not concern people with spelling, sentence structure, sentax sentex, or other diction associated with the written word, the message is what is important.

Garzoli claims "He was deprived of his Constitutional rights, which in turn had created a hostile working environment, embarrassment and humiliation that he had to endure". Thats funny as hell, that's what Mitchell allowed Garzoli to do to others for years.
 

I am pleased to share that I have brought my dad over to the Rivero side. I told him months ago about the corruption under Mitchell's watch but I could never convince him to vote for Rivero because he saw him as a radical. I left the topic alone and last night when I was visiting, he asked if I was still voting Rivero. I said yes and he surprised me by saying he was too! He told me the final straw was reading the article in the RB about Beland's filing. My dad is retired, has lived in this county nearly 40 years. He is a middle of the road, free thinking kind of guy who is not easily swayed. Looks like Beland's actions just may sway those that are still riding the fence.

Leave Carl Miller alone the issue is McClain who hids in the office and when he thinks no one outside his body guard can hear makes remarks about Brady, FYI Rey Brady is the only Black Officer the city has and he is a damn good one has been out on Admin leave, makes me remember how it was done to Tim Fassler because he took the high road and tried to do something to help himself and fellow officers, cost him his job. Don't allow this to happen to Officer brady send a message that Clearlake is racist of which the city is not.

Someone has asked me to comment on why I think the SO went after Beland. Ok, here is what I think;

Beland did not make many friends at the SO, he rubbed people wrong. I am not saying anything that I have not told Jim. We all have our own individual personalities and Jim's did not fit in real well at the SO. That being said, a number of deputies complained about Beland on just about everything he did. Lt. Shit-stain Brown was assigned to start a number of I.A.s on Beland.

A problem here is that Brown had not liked Beland since he arrived at the SO. And, word was that Brown had not been truthful in the past when dealing with certain incidents with Beland (I have no first hand knowledge of this). I just know that Lt. Shit-stain Brown has been less than truthful when dealing with internal affairs.

Then the boating accident. No need for me to bore you with all the details of that. But Beland testifies and Mitchell and Perdock don't like his testimony. They then decide that they will go after him for lying. That is what I think the final I.A. was about.

They wanted him gone and they were doing whatever they could to make his life miserable. Well, they fire him and little did they know that he was a fighter. I guess they never understood the mentality of a Marine. You have to kill them to stop them.

So there, that's my two cents for whatever it is worth. That is my perception of the way things went down.

Sheriff Mitchell has been spotted in the Blue Lakes area as of last night. He reportedly threw a bunch of the Fairy Dust in his possession onto the crowd attempting gain their support. However the fairy dust was reported to be bad and it didn't work.

Again this Fairy Dust bandit is considered crazy, immoral, and sneakey. Use extream caution. If sighted call 911. Do not attempt to consider anything Sheriff Mitchell say truthful!!!!

Good news all you GOBs. Last week I converted 9 Rivero supporters over to Mitchell supporters, just by telling them about the dirty tactics used by people endorsing Rivero and proving it to them using posts from this blog. I have received email from 7 of those people telling me they are sharing the information I gave them and getting many other people to drop Rivero and support Mithchell! Thank you everyone that now knows the real story and has decided to no longer drink the koolaid! Keep up the great work. We have it in the bag!

I was at McDonald's today and met 5 Mitchell supporters talking in the dining area. Well after I explained Beland's complaint and all the other underhanded things Mitchell has done, I was able to convert all of them to Rivero's side. All of this while a LCSO detective was at the front counter.

not clear enough on my OP. I'm not quitting my cop
job unless and until and I am successful in insurance. I plant to work
the insurance biz on my 4 days off and in the evenings AND using every
positive contact I have a cop as a future lead.

My current paycheck averages $3800 if I work no overtime and
depending on the pay period could be as low as $3400. My next check
however due to having OT should be close to $6K. I am able to pick and
choose when I want the OT and when I don't, if I need some extra cash
for marketing stuff, I trade an insurance day for a day of OT. That's
my plan anyway.

The more people I talk to and listen to, the only conclusion I can come to is that there will be a run off election starting June 9th. There is too much support on both sides for a simple majority on election day it appears. The winner will be the one who can garner the votes of the third candidate that doesn't get in. My hunch is that Mitchell and Rivero's campaigns will have to go balls out to get the Baxter voters. That's my two cents anyway. Despite all of the talk and b.s. from both sides, I think I'm not too far off.
