Ok so I was at the Upper Lake Wild West Days and heard the talk about this guy Tom and I'm guessing by the sound of it all they were totally against Rivero and for Mitchell. So, I went over to a friend of mine who lives in Upper Lake and seems to know everyone and inquired as to who this person Tom is and why so many people were speaking ill things about him. My friend took me around a showed me a few of the places that this guy constructed right there in Upper Lake. He began to explain to me what has been going on since I'm not all that involved up here. I was amazed at the craftmenship this young man displayed. Someone with his talent surely can't be as stupid as those who were talking about him said. I just wanted to let this person know, you do such fine work and hopefully one day I can meet you!

LOL post 804, and 758 really you are right, two things have caught Rodney off guard, the technology caught up with him. Imagine how easy it was for him, when the Internet was just getting off the ground, citizens could not communicate on such a vast level, and he could hide many of his actions. Combine this with the demographic population change to a more progressive representation, and there you have it. Rodney got caught in the change and was not sharp enough to see it happening.

So many people that I would have never expected to change their vote from Mitchell to Rivero and they already have. The only way this election will not go towards Rivero and that is if it is rigged! Just like the post on the past thread said, her mother worked the polls for 30 yrs and for some reason this year she was told she wasn't needed and was replaced with pro Mitchell folks. Now why would this be if I just heard over the radio that they are looking for people to help? Makes one question!

Diane Fridley & Maria Valadez run one of the most transparent impartial and above board county registrar of voters offices in the state.
Many counties would die for people like these as public servants to oversee their election process (i.e Del Norte, San Diego, Contra Costa etc)
She was one of the few who INSISTED that Lake County buy a system that has paper ballots that enable a paper trail, back when many other counties were having Diebold and ES&S touchscreen machines crammed down their throats.
Why don't you call and see if they have any openings around the county and work one of the polling places on election day? Your fears will be allayed.

9:17, I don’t think the intent was to imply anything about the county registrar of voters office. It’s just that there is so much corruption going on in the Mitchell camp that people are worried. If they can dismiss a murder charge and control the press; just how far could Rodney go? I’ve no doubt that Diane Fridley & Maria Valade are fine people who do their job to the highest caliber. But, it’s understandable that people are worried; we just don’t know what depths Rodney would sink to. We’ll all breathe easier on Wednesday morning when we know Mitchell’s reign is coming to an end.
 

826 I know what you mean. I've noticed that people who usually dont vote plan on getting to the polls. I was pleasantly surprised when my mom called today and said that shes voting for Rivero. This is a woman who never votes, but she said that Mitchell is such an ass (her words not mine) that she has to vote this year.

Also remember that each of the campaigns is allowed to observe the vote count as it happens, so Rivero will have people at the registers of voters observing the process.
 

Ok so how does the process work in hiring someone to work on a county job? Don't they need to place a ad or something to that affect in order to receive bids from all parties interested? I mean afterall I attend some of the BOS meetings and they always question whether or not local contractors bid on jobs. I know we want to keep local but isn't it opened to all contractors?

Batman had Robin at the event so was getting full reports from the scene, it was described as a great event for Rivero, and some say sealed the fate of Rodney Mitchell who as I understand it was hiding in the bushes by the Blue Wing. I will pay 100 dollars for a photo of that one!!!! ;-)

This over the top paranoia is unfounded when you're discussing our county election officers.
If you had ever worked one of our polling place and had any familiarity at all with the process you'd know that. I have and I do.

Hopefully the campaign is smart enough to have volunteers who are checking all day long and calling their voters and not just showing up at the courthouse after 8pm, because by that time its too late.

Post 1019 the Rivero campaign is already set up to have people at every voting location as well as covering the counting at the register of voters.

I ran into a Health Inspector today in Upper Lake, she was checking the BBQ place in front of the Health Food Store. She said they get overtime for checking places on the weekend and she thought a citation for selling tamales that were being sold that were made in someone's home would justify her time for Sunday. And she said she would swing by. sucks to be the 'cook' and the Rivero campaign.

As is now commonly known, Sheriff Mitchell hung a manslaughter charge around the neck of an innocent man in a failed and obvious attempt to save Russell Perdock’s chief deputy job. Because I’m running against him for sheriff, he allowed a false allegation of sexual assault to hang around my neck in an obvious attempt to save his own job.


The most powerful position in local government is the sheriff. A smart sheriff takes steps to treat all matters in a timely, fair and honest way and ensures his actions are as transparent as possible to avoid the appearance of wrong-doing. This is not the case with Sheriff Mitchell, who is using his power to gain political advantage in his re-election campaign.


This is politics at its worst – the dirtiest kind of election campaign tactics. I felt I must bring this to your attention for the sake of truth and to defend the good name of my family.


It’s very clear that since April 6, Sheriff Mitchell had declarations from witnesses exonerating me from the Jan. 7 charges. In fact he has, in hand, a report from his independent investigator completely exonerating me from all of Mrs. Rully's allegations. This entire matter could have been concluded months ago by simply talking to the two witnesses on scene. It is not unusual for peace officers to become targets of false complaints during arrest situations; it is unusual for an investigation to take so long.


After much pressure by me and my attorney to reveal the truth, I received a May 20 email from Lake County Sheriff’s Captain Cecil Brown who writes, “I can tell you though that the independent investigator has determined that the allegations Mrs. Rully made regarding the day of her arrest cannot be sustained.” I am cleared, but still no word directly from Sheriff Mitchell. Why no word and why so long? This was just another political tactic, pure and simple. Sadly, something we’ve come to expect from Sheriff Mitchell.


As we all know, justice delayed is justice denied. It’s bad enough that Sheriff Mitchell has decided to visit his abuse of power and control on me, a competitor for sheriff, but he has a long history of making unscrupulous, self-serving decisions. The good citizens of Lake County have paid heavily for his decisions, and his next target may you, a family member or a dear friend.


This has to stop and is why I am running for sheriff. Knowing what Sheriff Mitchell and his inner circle are capable of makes it hard, but I will not back down and hope I can count on your vote to make the changes needed in the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
 

For you that would keep the status quo ,your wight. I would not only question your judgment but your sanity.To leave in place after they have shown what they would do, That's just total madness. The match is struck and the fuse lit, more know of the dishonesty with this local government.This will not go away.History has pointed the way.You leave it" as is" at our own peril. Will you all be claiming the election was "rigged" only if Mitchell wins? What if Baxter wins? Will you also cry foul play? Baxter has been winning over a lot of voters lately. Well, maybe he hasn't really been "winning them over". Mostly Rivero is turning them away. No matter, Baxter is picking up steam. Your goal is to remove Mitchell from office. So will you be happy if Baxter wins?
 

Baxter needs to have a plan on saving us the taxpayers money. After all the law suits against the Co. Rivero has a plan
 

Mitchell is really getting desperate. He did another hit piece, published by Liz Larson in LCN this morning as an editorial. Only 3 comments so far, but all seem to be anti-Mitchell. James I agree. At this point the most important thing is to get Mitchell out, and if that means Jack baxter becomes our next sheriff then so be it. My vote will go to Rivero. Even my 65 year old ultra conservative mother is so fed up with Mitchells antics that she is now a Rivero supporter.

Does that mean the people have not spoken? Isn't that why we go to the polling place, to have our collective voices heard. Lovelace complains about Mitchell?Perdock?Hopkins and the rest for violating laws, yet Rivero is willing to ignore laws for his personal benefit. And don't try to use that "it's not that big a deal' lame excuse. A law is a law and as Sheriff he should not pick and choose which ones he feels are important. His job is to enforce all the laws in an equal fashion. Or is Rivero just another version of Mitchell?

Mitchell keeps touting how he's been in office for 16 years, but he neglects to mention that he had no opponent before. Perhaps if there had been options for the voters, he wouldn't have been in office so long. Just because no one else wanted the job doesn't mean you are the best qualified to do it. Mitchell is a legend in his own mind, which in his case, doesn't say much....methinks it is a very small place... :^)
 

I agree with 10:08 - what's your point? I have cousins who have dual citizenship in at least 5 separate countries, simply because they happened to be born there while my uncle was stationed there during his service with the CIA. They are no less American. It is very common for other countries to recognize dual citizenship. What does that have to do with this campaign? Do you think that somehow someone who came to the U.S. as a child, who is later elected Sheriff in the County o'fLake (aka Podunk) will somehow constitute a risk of some sort? Better get that pillowcase off your head, I think you need some fresh air! :^)
 

FLASH! Today at Grebe Hall, the actual time is 4pm, the start for dinner, and live music. I just got back from there after picking up some tamales to take home. 12 for $20, 6 for $10, and they are good. So the actual time for everyone to be there is 4pm, for a great Mexican dinner. I was told dinner will be $10.
 

If you Google “Gordon Construction” you get a company listed at ‎909 Hall Street, San Carlos, CA. Since two different companies can’t register in California with the same name, it’s unclear what connection this company has with the $10,000 donation to Mitchell’s campaign. Why would a company in San Carlos have a $10,000 interest in the Lake County Sheriff’s election unless they were involved in construction of the jail or hope to be involved in the next phase?
 

As you can see the same Mitchell supporter is posting the same crap he or she always has as in some of the morning posts. It doesn't work guys, the party is over, pack your bags.
 

I just came from a tamale purchase too! Fabulous, but they were almost sold out at 10:15. That scare about calling the Health Dept. was ridiculous, by the way, as Glebe Hall has a complete kitchen with stainless steel appliances, running water, and restrooms. Go figure! Anyway, as mentioned above, the fundraiser dinner is at Glebe Hall next to the Catholic Church in downtown Kelseyville, and comes complete with chips and salsa, rice and beans, and wonderful homemade tamales, plus live mexican music. Ole! Bring a few extra dollars if you can possibly afford it. These people are working hard to elect an honest government for us, someone who is reliable, non-discriminatory, educated and experienced, a US Coast Guard licensed captain, US Merchant Marine Officer, bilingual, and decorated multiple times by SFPD. The Mitchell supporters are attacking Frank because they are afraid of him replacing their boss and losing their job security. I find it interesting that they are throwing everything against Frank and don't fear Baxter. There are two running against their boss yet they are only afraid of Frank? It is acceptable for Baxter to have supporters that want Mitchell removed and don't want to vote for Frank. It has been said that Baxter talked with Mitchell before he decided to run. Why would Baxter do that? And what did they talk about? I have noticed that the Mitchell supporters have left Baxter alone or at best is treating him with kid gloves. Did Mitchell tell his supporters ie OU912 to go easy on Baxter because he is part of the plan? For Baxter to insinuate that the first contact with Mitchell was the elections I find that hard to believe. If a LEO retires to a county after 38 yrs in law enforcement just by common sense wouldn't some of your first contacts be like individuals? Baxter says he was so upset about the Dinius trial. Yet no one remembers his concern at the time. I sent Baxter a email about my main concern that can be answered with a simple yes or no. I have yet to hear from him? The whole thing looks fishy to me and others I have talked to.

Look what happened to McMahon He left and is still a deputy with no chance of coming back.

This is so interesting, it is as if the SO's who essentially do not want change have decided they will come out and play. These posters were not here even a week ago. So they cannot be here because they think they are going to cause people to change who they are voting for, 99% of the citizens, not counting the usual array of corruption supporters we have always had, we even have names for them. ;-).. have already cast their ballots for who they are voting for, and hold on, it ain't Mitchell.

Now since we know you are smart enough to understand those demographics, and that you have an ice cubes chance in hell of gaining a single vote from this domain. Why are you here? You see the interesting thing, we are not showing up at your place, you are showing up at our place. You can state your case but we know and you know that when Rivero wins, the hysterical ranting will fade away in short order. This word game of doom and gloom, is an illusion, people will adept, choices will be made, and change will be ushered it. Many of you posting tonight will buy into the change, some won't but it's not going to be world ending. We have seen far bigger organisations then Lake County as a whole under go leadership change.

And boys, when you come on a site stating how it would be ok with you if Rivero won, that says one thing, you are running scared. Mitchell wasn't hiding in the tree's during the Upper lake Parade for nothing.

Pat is so sorry he left that he comes here pretending to be one of them. If I was a deputy I wouldn't want Pat speaking for me.
 

Rivero has been out of uniform for nearly half a year,he is so far out of the day to day, not a good choice to be Sheriff,much less go back to be a deputy, he will fade into the sunset as he cut his own career by all his statements against the LE he was at one time a part of, it is sad to see a Brother in LE turn against Us and bring such notirity to a dept, who is doing their job, all the while getting false claims by a blog who is run by people who lack the education to make judgements on how the letter of the law and the DA office and BOS chain of command works.

Mark My word, people say they are for Rivero, but when it actually comes to the time and place in th ebooth with noone yelling Frank in their ear and feeding them food because they are hungary, they will vote for Mitchell,people can set aside what has transpired, happends in any dept of the Sheriff to dismiss sworn officers for non discosed reasons. Some look for change but as we have seen with the so called change in Washington....Change is not always what it is cracked up to be, that said...Rivero and being Sheirff exact same thing...He is not Sheriff material, he wants it so bad he has turned against his boss, his fellow deputies and anyone who he thinks is standing in his way, all the stops have been pulled out, for some uncanny reason he does win, he will have no respect allowed to him because of what he did to get the jon...but since he hasn't the chance to get the jon...that is a moot point.

You cast your vote, I bet when you do that you will not check the Mitchell box you remember this when you are in that booth.
