Garzoli's e-mail was posted a couple of times on the site, I can't remember what it is, but someone should be able to post it I would think.
 

We have placed this announcement on our front page when you come on to the blog above the red button. Get this information out to everyone you know. It is interesting isn't it, the debate started out with just a closed door SO's and Rivero, no one else invited. We start to put the pressure on and the Media is invited in. We put more pressure on and local radio is invited, now what is the excuse for not allowing the public in, oh I get it, we the public the citizens whom you serve and pay your wage, might not be able to be controlled, bit of a fear factor there eh. Well you earned it.

This post is not a presumption or accusational in nature, but wanted to throw it out there. As many of you know for many years a Person whose name is Alice also known as MIA has been battling on the blogs the paper and anywhere else she can to call attention to child porn and other issues in the county. MIA takes constant heat from a lot of people when she posts. We took MIA offline on this blog so we could concentrate on the current Mitchell/Hopkins issues. But just as a interesting bit of food for thought. We noticed on the Garzoli forum communications he says. "He is tired of looking at Child Porn" this in regards to his admonition of being trained in computer forensics. Well for those of you who totally disregard everything MIA has said concerning Child Porn. You could speculate that Garzoli has reveled a mechanism for attaining this type of material. Now we are not saying he did, or this in fact is the case. But we wanted to simply say, you should be careful about hammering someone, because it takes a small piece of information and a lot of dots can be connected. Just food for thought for those of you who would so quickly dispatch an individual as unworthy.
 

The beat goes on here is another post from Garzoli, we want you to take note at appox. 3/4 of the way down his post as he is trying to figure a way to get licensed. He says "and if constructed properly I could get it down with little cost to myself".....Well if there is no cost to you Mr. Garzoli who would that be paying for it? Gee need I post the answer to that?

We work formal training into my mission. As an example, this past week we spent time doing normal approaches to a hover and landing; confined are landings, take offs to hover - right & left 360 pedal turns and landings again and after quite a number of those He taught and I performed a dozen or so quick stops. I have logged 6 hours dual cross country in both a Jet ranger and a 300CBi. I have attended on my own private pilot ground school (airplane) at the local community college, and have spent COUNTLESS hours flying with military instructor pilots who taught me a great deal of helicopter aerodynamics. Granted, I am a mess- formally- but I have enough experience and flight time that if I could get with a CFi in a 300 for several weeks I think I could be taught what I need quickly. and if constructed properly I could get it done with little cost to me. My primary CFi works for a company that I have been hiring every year since 1995. So every summer in marijuana season he and fly together a few weeks every year. I would really like to use what I already have towards formalizing my training and get a private rating.
 

How can you count hours that are countless?
 

The same way you fly MJ missions and count it as training I guess. Or find the missing log books and see what is indicated. This reminds me of the missing phone conversations from the Nixon era, oh ya watergate/Garzoligate.

You are so right. Lande and Kip to this day are being bashed in the LCSO website. Something tells me we haven't heard the last from Beland. I loved it when Mitchell said, "Deputy Andrews made his video before the other FTO's so he did not know about Sgt. Chacawaski." That is untrue since each FTO must fill out a daily report on their trainee. Mitchell that states that Andrews wanted to do another video including Chawcowaski, but "I don't think that's necessary." What a crock, Mitchell most likely chewed Andrews out for doing it. I have worked with Ski for over 10 years. He is a great cop and loves to catch bad guys. I only question this because of how Mitchell has handled this mess.

Post 2:57 great job it sounds like we have a lot of people coming, might be one of the bigger events of the past few years in Lake County. Pretty interesting how the local media did not announce this aspect of the event. We know they knew about, oh I see maybe it was because it wasn't an official sheriff Mitchell enent that he set up. None the less, a lot of people are going to be there, nice job on the sign, bring more if you have them.

Only spouses that will be going, if they're able to go, will be those that are employed by a law enforcement agency (DA, Probation, CHP, Lakeport PD,Clearlake PD, and Lake County Sheriff, and most of those are members of the employee associations sponsoring the event.

My question to Mitchell is "transparency".
1. If all shootings are investigated by the DA's Office to show no favoritism, why didn't you can for another agency since you were at the scene?
2. Why did you not put Perdock on Admin leave immediately since Perdock sent two investigators to look at his boat and against Ostini's concerns? Or after he accessed the report?
3. Why is the EEOC report not released.
4. What is the procedures if someone reports a manager doing something wrong? How is the reporting party protected?
 

For 5:33 PM: I'm not claiming to be Mitchell or even claiming that these would be anything close to his answers. I'm just someone who has a little insite into some of these matters. Not all shootings are investigated by the DA's office. Officer involved shootings that occur in the line of duty, are typically investigated by an outside agency so that no accusations of favortism linger. Typically, the DA's office would do that for SO shootings, but that's not always the case. The key to this question is that Perdock was not acting in his official capacity at the time of the boat crash. That is a fundamental difference between the boat crash case and any on-duty shooting a cop would be involved in. Why would any officer be put on admin leave for completely off duty conduct? Of course, he killed someone. That would seem to be reason enough. But the DA (not the sheriff) decided not to charge perdock. So, how do you justify taking any action against a cop for something he was involved in off-duty that was not related to his employment, and for which he was not charged criminally? Now, if perdock did something subsequent to that, that something (whatever it is) might be the reason he as later put on admin leave.
No idea why the EEOC report has not been released. Probably the same reason that no peace officer personnel records in California are released---it's the law.
If you want to report that a manager is doing something wrong, report it just like you would report any employee was doing something wrong. Go down to the sheriff's department and ask someone the procedure. They have one.
 

Post 5:48 well gee it's an interesting story you weave, however you kinda left out one little important item in your expose on diminishing the entire incident as if it was not a significant enough set of conditions to have Perdock charged with anything. Oh but one little point it was sure important enough to go after Dinius with all they had wasn't it? You a small point in your presentation you missed. You know Mitchell was at the dock that night, gave Perdock a big hug, and they chated. Hmmmmm I suspect just asking if he was ok. No big deal in the whole scheme of things. Perdock being seen by three witnesses drinking at Konocti a short time before the accident. Ahhh why bring it up nothing to see here folks pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. lWe could go on and on. Listen we don't mind engaging in back and forth conversation on these types of subjects, but your going to have to do a lot better then that smoke screen.
 

Post 5:48 you know full well why the EEOC should be released, and you also know how it is done and that many communities have received these reports through court order if necessary, when there is a situation such as we have occuring in our county. Names can be protected in some instances but the final conclusions and facts can be released. So again don't throw the smoke screen, communicate but don't white wash it.
 

Post 5:48 FYI The Sheriff doesn't have a procedure in place for complaints! Yes, go to the Sheriff's Dept. and get your complaint form.....(There is one available at the Personnel Dept. at the Court House also) Although, the BOS doesn't know where you can pick one up.....Then you must explain to C. Eserly why you want a complaint form; Because she has to "sign" it before she gives it to you. Then when you submitt your complaint to the SO; you never hear back from Mitchell. I think it goes into the garbage can... Hah.........that's is a great
effective procedure, wouldn't you say. The only way to make sure the complaint is verified is to send a copy to County Counsel, BOS, Grand Jury, AG, and everyone else you can think of...........and maybe someone just might,(maybe) respond. It's a great system I can tell you for a fact........and against the law..I smell corruption.
 

6:34 For what is worth I phoned the SO for a complaint form, one was mailed to me and I did get a written response. It wasn't the reply I'd hoped for but hey I'm just a taxpaying citizen.

I am a deputy with over 10 years with LCSO. All of the shootings I've known of had been investigated by the DA's Office. That included the shootings involving Bean, Martin, CHP in Kelseyville and CLO's and all the Clearlake PD shootings.

POBAR states that a peace officers name can not be released. There is no status that states a Sheriff or Chief can not simply come forward and state the EEOC's investigation is finished and no evidence of racism was found. No names had to be given in that case.

As for Perdock, we have placed persons on Admin Leave in the past for off duty conduct while an IA is conducted. But in Perdock's case, he had a private investigator and a fiberglass worker both enter the Boat Barn to view his boat even after Ostini said no. Perdock then accessed the report when told not to do so. Perdock also stated deputies at the scene misquoted him (basically calling them a lair). Then Perdock blew up on Beland right after the prelim in the middle of the office (yep I was standing next to the back door when that happened). Now this alone does not show a crime, but it should have been investigated. Off duty conduct is covered under the Policy & Procedures.
 

Post 5:48 is right on target. You want the results bad enough lovelace...get your court order.
 

About complaints. I am talking about a current deputy complaining about a person in management.

2010 7:47 PM Good Post, Thanks, I thought Perdocks lawyer said that Perdocks Doctor said he would be out on medical for 45 days? That was back in aug. I believe. If Perdock was put on administrative with pay for misconduct "for lack of a better word" Why did Garzoli get a demotion and cut in pay for whatever he did, Somehow that doesn't seem fair. Fair you say. Didn't your mother teach you not all is fair in love and war? LCSO call the shots as they see it, how they want it, and to best suit them. Well, guess I should be more clear MITCHELL! Now, we the people are calling the shots and he is finally having to answer to us. Not that we would believe anything the tool has to say at this point. Vote Rivero for change! Think back to a little movie in 1989 called Back to the Future. Remember the bully "Biff" and his gang of buddies? Now look at LCSO. Mitchell (Biff) and his gang of buddies, Garzoli, Perdock, Brown and Bauman. Mitchell's job is to force a person to follow the rules. When that deputy doesn't, his buddies use the Policy and Procedures per the letter and crucify the deputy.
 

Let the cops have their own debate. If any cop or question is out of line, I can promise that it will be on this blog before the cops are out of the building. So remember LCSO members and Mitchell, ask one question that is out of line and we will list that deputy's name and the question for all to see. Than it will hit the paper and destroy Mitchell. After that, a dead body would be picked over Mitchell any day.

Again Mitchell, what was the EEOC findings?
 

HARVEY posts - A young woman was interviewed by HARVEY's Sgt years ago and asked if Harvey had ever mentioned any drug busts he assisted TF on where he bragged or talked about money or dope. The woman provided information about him having sex in the sheriff car while he was on duty, and she wasn't the only woman, there were 9 other women! I guess he was telling his wife he was on a stake out and thats why he had to be away from home - I heard from my friend who used to be the nurse at the jail that Harvey would make inmates wake up and make him breakfast. Harvey had sex in the sheriff car many times, and even on the hood of #R-12 or #R21, there's even a picture of him in his SWAT jump suit with stains in the front of it, and a video of him having sex. HARVEY is a loose canon, and he carries a glock, and he even let the women hold his AR-15!! Harvey is now working down south for another department.

My my my the corruption supporters don't seem to like Lovelace very much. You know what, Lovelace don't like the corruption supporters either, so the feeling is mutual. Only problem for you all is, the corruption supporters have the support of the corruption supporters and Lovelace has the support of the citizens. You know its funny we really enjoy when some sap tells us to file a report or do an investigation, serving your own head on a plate as an invitation is not always a wise move. You don't have to be asked to be kicked we've been doing that without invitation for several months now. But you know what its always nice to be invited.

Looks like a chance of rain will be developing later in the day, may hold off till after the event, but just in case bring rain-gear, and don't a single person decide not to go if it is raining. We need everyone out there.

This is a big, day as we have quickly approached and past 3000 posts on the blog, and now move forward with this important march and protest, we call on this time to thank all of the good citizens of Lake County for their support and we want to extend a heart felt thanks to all the inside people in the SO and DA office for their amazing help. We have counted at this point over 20 different folks on the inside of the various departments that have come forward and asked if they can help us. For that we are very thankful.

Remember Justice and transparency in our county and nothing less.

The Lovelace group will be at the protest, we will not show ourselves as to much work is to be done still. But we will be there, in force. Warning to any SO that thinks they want to be a cowboy. Don't, we are coming to support the removal of Mitchell and Hopkins from office, this will happen, and you don't want to get yourselfs in trouble defending a lost cause, and you will get yourselves in trouble we will have many people watching these will be from areas of your departments that would quite frankly surprise the hell out of you. Fair warning, and see you all there!!!!

Hi, I'm a 19 yr old college student and the reason I'm writing is because I would like a question answered. I would like to attend this protest in support of Lake County Citizens and change. I have never done anything against the law and this kinda scares me to do. Can someone reassure me that I will not be arrested for participating. I don't have the funds for bail if I do and wouldn't want to jepordize attending my classes in case I did.
 

If it is so rdiculous you may remove yourself at anytime! What makes your opinions more realistic than that of the other posters? You believe what you choose to believe and you form a opinion, right or wrong!

It’s obvious that someone needs to step in here and start investigating everyone who is slandering the general public as losers, mob, and telling lies.
There are so many exaggerated and false statements being made that it is having a detrimental effect on the LCSO, they and there cohorts (wife's) feel they need to slander anyone who posts.
I believe that we need to start monitoring IP Addresses etc and ultimately prosecute these individuals? (NOW THAT IS VERY SAD) Your mission if you choose ladies. Try and respect other opinions without trying to be above the law. Not everyone here has a criminal history.
 

I'm coming in for this event from outta town. Listen up Boys. I'm definetly not coming on vacation, and have every intention of not leaving on probabtion. I'm driving a siver lexus and I will have my grandparents with me. I'm not on probabtion, I have no warrants and my license and registration are current. can someone confirm Garzoli has been placed on Admin leave, for how long, what was the reasons, etc etc. Just got back from the protest, and haven't heard about this does anyone else have anymore information post as soon as possible. This would be good news and means Mitchell is trying to cut his loses, and at the same time keep a paycheck coming in for Garzoli, however the general theme is a good one as we have brought down another corruption SO. Just a few more to go including Mitchell and we are home free.
 

Well just returned from a great event with Rivero, I tell you what he has got a set of em, and he ain't afraid to show em off. Mitchell walked by the crowd that was gathered and walk about 90 feet away to avoid us. Hopkins looks like a stuff shirt with his wife, now why was it his wife got to go in, I didn't know she was in the SO organization. Rivero gave a good speech and answered questions overall a great night. For those of you that wern't there these guys look like real clowns, they were so afraid, they posted a notice on the door, basically saying don't try to come in, cause we ain't going to let you, and we don't want to have to come after you. Really a silly presentation by these corruption supporters, there was no vocal opposition to the crowd outside, not a Mitchell supporter to be found. Many psople were getting signed up to vote, as several people were there getting sign-ups going which was excellent.

KPFZ as usual totally screwed it up, they couldn't even get the broadcast on the air. You mean to tell me Andy and Time didn't even figure out how to set up their system prior to walking in the door, my god could someone start a real community radio station please.

Overall a great night, happy to be there, have much more to post talked to Kip Ringen, he is a great guy, talked to several other people and made several good contacts, we have some great stuff to post from who we talked to and will get that up on the blog by tomorrow.
 

What I thought was funny was the fact and I say FACT that Mitchell walked on by and turned his head in the other direction. He did not approach nor did he address anyone and I say ANYONE of the citizens who may have wanted a word with him. Now in my book thats a real chicken ass!

Now for Rivero, I have to say, so far I he has my vote. I like the way he addressed the citizens, answered every single question put out to him and most importantly, looked you smack in the eyes when speaking with you. He is saying what the citizens want to hear which on one hand is good yet on the other hand those that are still skeptical comment with, of course he is going to say what you want to hear, hell its campaign time. So this being said, I have been doing a great deal of thinking and I dont know if my thoughts can be executed or not because I don't know how everything works in a election and I don't know the law. Maybe someone can look into this and let us know if this is possible.
Did we all like what Rivero had to say? His ideas about revamping sound good to alot of us. The citizen Advisory/oversight committee especially. Well, I know we can always recall if we the citizens choose to do so, but, is there anyway we could have a legally binding contract of somekind for Rivero stating something to the effect that if voted into office, and he does not follow through on his campaign promises to the citizens that the citizens may ask for him to step down at which time he must do so. It would save us alot of time, money and bullshit if we could. Sorry for the great length but there has got to be a better way we can handle situations like this within our county without having to be put through what we are each time something needs to be done! Any ideas

Post 10:09 PM I attended, counted around 100 citizens. Still haven't decided who will get my vote but I do give Rivero credit for addressing the mere public.

As for the Mitchell supporter stating that there were only 10 people in the crowd around Rivero, I suggest you go back to school and learn how to count. I will agree it was not a "huge" crowd but it was more like 25 - 30 people.
At least Frank Rivero talked with the people and looked them in the eye, unlike Mitchell who, as has already been stated, walked by without speaking to any of us "civilians."

I also understand there were alot of empty seats inside. I think the most halarious thing of the night was knowing that the LCSO ers not isms but ers were concerned that the crowd outside were going to be unruly. Amazing how within the past 7 months there has been two gatherings now, one in front of the courthouse and the other tonight and both were respectable and peaceful. As to the new thread that someone said popped up on a Topic site a poster Local along with numerous other posting names is believed to be in the courthouse. Voice was recorded last year during a radio show inwhich Bismarck Dinius's attorney, Victor Haltom was being interviewed ___ defended Sheriff Russ Perdock on the air. Sounds as if ___has created this topic for some reason.
 

"I recently spoke to a friend that served as a juror in Lower Lake on a case that Judge Martin presided over. He told me it was the most unblievable thing he's ever seen. The Judge would'nt let the defense introduce any of their evidence. He gave no reason, he just would not allow it. My friend said it seemed the Judge had his mind made up before the trial ever started. I know you naysayers will say this is hearsay, but most of you know my friend because he plays in a local band and when you find out his name someday you will know it to be true."

I believe that it is true. Before every trial the judge and attorneys do motions in limine. The point of those motions is to discuss what evidence each side wants to present and whether or not the evidence is relevant and/or admissable. So yeah, the judge knew, and the defense attorney should have known, what evidence was coming in to the trial. The fact that the judge would not admit evidence the defense wanted in doesn't mean that the judge did something wrong. It is far more liekly bthat the defense attorney screwed up. Also, I wouldn't be overly impressed with the fact that there is complaint pending with the Council against Judge Martin. They opened about 900 complaints in 2008 (the last year there are figures) and closed over 800 without further action. Of the rest slightly more then half were closed as unfounded. So, out of 850 or so complaints only about 40 resulted in any discipline.
 

The event last night was excellent, My understanding was what went on on the inside was a good number of cops, had their heads turned with Rivero, I don't you will see Mitchell try that one again. I suspect half the cops on the inside thought they would never support Rivero and have now changed their minds. That is a great sign, and one that we had been waiting to see as time went on. Now we begin to see Mitchells base crumbling. Also remember this is the first time according to Kip Ringen that Mitchell has had someone actually challenging him. With the exception of about 9 years ago.

Somebody had mentioned someone on Topix trying to hammer Lovelace. HA HA come on over to this blog and take your whippin. We love that the exposure of crushing these guys in a verbal exchange is most enjoyable.
 

Well, frankly I think that Rivero lost any chance whatsoever of getting the DSA endorsement last night. Basically he seemed angry and confrontational. I think that was deliberate on his part, which is fairly gutsy. He told the deputies that being a deputy didn't mean you were above the law, and that there were people present who had broken the law. At one point he went off on a rant about back-stabbing, and said there would be zero tolerance for back-stabbing in his department, back stabbers would be shown the door (which leads to some interesting issues - what is back-stabbing, how do you decide if someone has back-stabbed, how do you fire someone you think has back-stabbed, etc.) He also talked a lot about how the SO has lost the community's trust and what he would do to regain that trust. The problem is that most of the deputies I've talked to (I am not with the SO) feel that Rivero's accusations of racial profiling and racism are in the first place part of the reason that the SO is having problems with image; and in the second place the accusations are total nonsense. The problem, too, is that it is impossible to tell who he's talking about when he talks about GOBs and people committing crimes and so on. I think there's some uneasiness about that. Most of the deputies I talked to were not overly impressed. As far as the DA is concerned, Anderson is a boob, completely unqualified for the job, Rhoades is glib but lacks experience, Hopkins is glib but has experience. The sole issue on which the three differ is sentence bargaining. So basically all Doug has going for him is that he's not Hopkins and he's for sentence bargaining. maybe that's enough. Doug wouldn't be a disaster, Anderson would be. I saw about 30 people outside, no signs or anything, and Rivero was talking to them, Record Bee says 40, that might be right too, it was pretty low-key. BTW Hopkins' wife was there, so was Rhoades' wife, and Rivero's finacee and son were there but they left early. Francisco blew them a kiss as they left it was kind of sweet.
 

Two different reports, our report from inside folks is that Rivero knocked em dead. Rivero went in knowing he was not going to get the DSA vote, in fact it will be an interesting situation because if he got their endorsment the public would reject him, the public knows the DSA is a bunch of Mitchell cronies, and they want the new sheriff to be completely disconnected to the corrupt lineage of the Mitchell regime. Overall a very good night. Again Hopkins is simply laying low hoping like hell to keep his job. He is waiting while he holds his breath underwater for the bullets to stop flying, and we got news for him you can't hold your breath for ever. Remember in the past the public would be worried if the incoming sheriff did not have the perceived vote of the DSA, but in the new world they do not want to support a person who has their support. This is a whole different twist to things as in the past Mitchell would use that in his campaign, and the public would buy it. Not anymore, Mitchell you have gotten the public so pissed off they want all connections to you cut off and that includes the DSA.

I see a group of people, the Lovelace group, who genuinely care for their fellow man and I have witnessed on this blog how they have roledl up their sleeves and use their talents to solve a problem of corruption in our home. I don't doubt that these people have families, businesses and "better things to do" than clean the county up.
No matter HOW dirty the situation is (including the porn and the killing of Lynn and the subsequent cover up) they dig in and do something about it demanding justice regardless of size of Goliath.

The man who was cleared of all charges in a fatal boat crash on Clear Lake three years ago, has now filed a claim against Lake County for wrongful prosecution. It is the first step toward a lawsuit.


Bismarck Dinius is accusing the Lake County prosecutor and the sheriff of putting him on trial to cover for a top official in the sheriff's department.

"They accused me of killing somebody, they falsely accused me of killing somebody," says Dinius.

Story: Manslaughter charge dropped in Lake Co. case
A jury cleared Dinius last summer of a felony manslaughter charge for the death of Lynn Thornton. They both were riding in a sailboat at night, when a powerboat driven by the number two official in the Lake County Sheriff's Department, Russell Perdock, slammed into them.

From the start, the case focused on Dinius -- he was at the tiller, had been drinking, and Perdock claimed the sailboat's running lights were off. The prosecutor ignored the fact that Perdock's speed boat was traveling 40 mph or more on a dark, moonless night.

"It's obvious he was at fault for this and they just ignored it, and tried to protect him," said Dinius.

Dinius' claim filed Monday with the Lake County Board of Supervisors says Sheriff Rodney Mitchell and Perdock concealed evidence showing Dinius was innocent and that District Attorney Jon Hopkins conspired with them. It says Dinius spent more than $300,000 for his defense "&against the groundless felony charges."

"First and foremost, I need to be compensated for, you know, wrongfully pursuing the case against me. It's cost me my job, my savings, a lot of my retirement," says Dinius.

"If these claims are true, this could be a very, very expensive lawsuit for the county and for the individuals involved," says ABC7's legal analyst Dean Johnson.

Johnson explains the county will probably reject Dinius' claim, so he will be free to file a lawsuit. Johnson also says suing the government is always difficult and suing a prosecutor is next to impossible -- with one exception.

"The only time when you can really sue a prosecutor is if you allege that the prosecutor has conspired with other people and has become the agent of harm that's been caused by others," says Johnson.

And that is precisely what Dinius is doing.

Good post 8:51 we saw him in action, I think for the first time in Lake County Rivero has overcome one of Mitchells main campaign tactics, which is to use the reasoning to the public that you have to vote for the sheriff who has the support of the "troops". The public does not like the idea of a sheriff who does not have the support of the troops, but in this case Rivero has figured out that the people see the department as a whole as to corrupt, and that they the troops need a new general to bring back control. This is a twist that Mitchell will not be able to overcome.

Post 10:03 yes we agree with that overview, there is also information that Rushing, has sat on a set of reports given to her by an SO, concerning racial profiiing based on reports of attacks on Gays in this county, from insdie the sheriff department, and did nothig with the reports. There is an issue of image over perceived moral presentation. And it is a shame, the public needs to wake up in each of the supervisors postions and demand accountability from each of them, they all need to learn lessons concerning their want of image vs action. Concern over what people might think, vs the phony presentation of a just moral image, which is a mask for inaction.

Why don't you just change the name of this website to riveroforsheriff.com? Does Rivero have any qualifications to be sheriff other than the fact that he isn't Mitchell? He is terrible candidate, who has demonstrably subverted truth to his personal ambition. He came off as inappropriately angry and confrontational toward the DSA at the debate, and kind of scary. Watch the part where he talks about back-stabbing and rumor-mongering. By all means support Rivero, if you want to guarantee that Mitchell will be re-elected. I myself will continue to hope that an actual candidate I can vote for with some moderate degree of enthusiasm comes into the race before its too late.
 

Rivero ran two funeral homes that were the second most productive in the Bay Area. He had several employees and had to deal with numerous counties, not just San Francisco. He was a police officer and detective for SFPD and I would take anyone other than Mitchell.

He has a reason to be angry. Mitchell passed him for sergeant, yet he scored high only to promote two other persons to sergeant who had such a poor performance record that they were kicked out of detectives.

Actually there is a lot of information on Rivero's site from the idea of Citizens oversight to a whole new approach to being sheriff, may be you haven't gone through the site in total. We think the website is a well managed site, and will expand as the election moves closer.

It has been suggested that Lovelace should run for one of the supervisor positions, however we have much to do and that at this point is not in the thought process.
 

Post 7:41 the committee approved that MJ bill, as we all know the issue of MJ is going to go away quickly, it will be in some form legal within the year. The DEA will be a non-issue, and no more will the true purpose of their activities be a reality which of course is grabbing assets and money.

Later today once it is drafted, and completed we are sending both Mitchell and Hopkins a letter requesting they remove them selves from office asap. It will be a hard hitting letter and set the tone for what is to come. We will post the letter being given to them at the time we send it. The Lovelace group is now going to turn up the heat and demand in the strongest terms that these two step down. They must go fight their legal battles on their own and the citizens cannot be clouded with their continued presence in the county.
 

channel 8 Mark had made arrangements for some people to pick up equipment for the filming event at K-High, when he arrived he found the doors locked. Who did it? Neiman. By the way did you hear that channel 8 had been under Grand Jury investigation? Now without channel 8 there will be no live Board of Supervisors meetings on TV for citizens to view. No live reports on the sheriffs department and the EEOC results, Garzoli, Mitchell, DEA funds. Just more dictator-ship by the GOB. A violation of 1st Amendment Rights. Makes me want to work even harder.
 

How many of the Board of Supervisors are Mitchell and Hopkins supporters?! We know the Lakeport City Council is full of LE supporters that are going to back their boys. We need to dig deeper. I posted the 10:03 entry last night that questioned the integrity of D.R. in particular and the "board" in general. I was referred to this blog to vent my concerns about how an investigation by the LCSD was handled when I called 911 for help in dealing with a neighbor who threatened to harm me. She eventually succeeded on a second attempt THE SAME DAY that was reported via 911. I was charged with instigating the physical confrontation and was told that a deputy had recorded my "confession". That turned out to be a lie. The whole thing was a nightmare similar to the ones I've read about from other citizens. I accept that law enforcement is a dirty job that oftens requires bending rules but the tactics of the LCSD are way beyond reasonable and, by all accounts, are as criminal as the perpetrators they are hired to subvert. I reported my concerns to D.R. and she said that the LCSD had a sterling reputation and that my complaints were unfounded. I'm responsible for her (lack of) effectiveness since I voted for her (as well as for Obummer) but there's always another election in which I can correct my naive preferences. If half of what I see here is true, the entire system needs purging and anyone who's been trained or corrupted by it has got to go . . . if not, I definitely WILL. I was warned before I moved here 15 years ago to retire that this county is a dangerous place for old folks and now I regret ever having come here. I had lived 65 years mainly in inner cities and much poorer areas without ever experiencing the humiliation and the disgust of dealing with such an inept or corrupt system of politics, law enforcement and justice. I don't give a darn about the individual personality conflicts but there's something terribly wrong when a local system is allowed to cause life threatening harm to it's most vulnerable citizens. The lake algae doesn't stink as bad as the players in this county.
 

Lovelace, I still need some serious convincing. Have any of your "peeps" acutally done any research into how Rivero does his job? Reviewed any of his public reports. Anyone can try to make accusations of corruption but actually dong an effective job in LE requires a special person. I have heard that Rivero has made some very poor decisions on the job. Is this something your peeps are willing to look into? After all, why should a bad apple replace someone you portray as a bad apple?
 

Poster 12:26, what were Mitchell's credentials for being elected sheriff? It seems that anyone who has no prior experience would be better qualified. I've had my doubts but I think Rivero will get my vote since his job with the SFPD was so commendable.
 

Rivero is a outstanding deputy, at least that is what his letters from Mitchell said in his personnel file. The problem is that when Frank decided to stand up for the people of Lake County, all of a sudden he is unworthy of Mitchell's "love"...ha. The bottom line is we need help and Frank looks like he can provide that help. Vote Rivero for sheriff. Put Mitchell out to pasture.
 

159 sounds a little disgrunted maybe worried about job security and a future with LC. But, if your name is on the Civil Rights lawsuit don't bother asking hopefully with change your job is gone.
 

I was Frank's supervisor for about seven months in 2008. Frank spent the majority of his time in his beat, where a deputy should spend their time. His reports were above average and his arrests were "within department standards." While in his beat, he did what every deputy should do but don't always do, contact the public and talk with them, do building checks and look for possible criminal activity. He kept busy during his entire shift. Frank also helped other deputies with less experience then him. A number of deputies would go to him and ask him for direction when a sergeant was not available.
 

Someone stated Frank appeared to be angry when addressing the people at the debate on Monday night. I disagree. I watched the video and it is very apparent that he is passionate about the topics he was addressing. If you are reading his passion as anger, you don't read people very well. Frank had/has the guts to step up to the plate and tell Mitchell and his cronies to their faces exactly where the problems are and why. He also has a good grasp on how to correct the problem. Frank carried himself well and did not back away from Mitchell's attempted attacks.

Both of you have a hard and difficult criminal defense to attend to, and it is clear in the end the outcome will not bode well for you. You cannot drag the citizens of this county down the road with either of you anymore. You must be gentlemen concerning this.

When gentlemen ingage in the game of chess, the King is tipped over by the losing player when it is quietly understood the game is over and mate is approaching. Mate is approaching for both of you, the condition of your departments is unacceptable by any standards. Change is need and a new board set up to play. Both of you set aside your arrorance and ego, we and you both know the time is near. Tip your kings over, we have in mate there is no need to continue on. At least leave the game with respect. This county needs to heal and it cannot heal with either of you in place.

People, if you viewed the debate video I ask that you go back and see it again. Forget Rivero or anyone else in the debate and pay attention to Mitchell. My belief is that he had prior knowledge of the questions as he was able to side step the questions without directly answering them. Let me give you on small example.

Questions: Please explain the difference between racial profiling and criminal profiling?

Answer: Pretend you are responding to a crime (I think a robbery) where the dispatcher informs you the suspect is a male, but nothing else. How would you find that suspect.

The question was the DIFFERENCE between racial profiling and criminal profiling. Not how to look for a subject who ALREADY committed the crime. Racial and Criminal profiling has to with finding a criminal. In this case we know who the criminal is.

Review and see for yourself. I already pointed this out to Rivero.
 

The above post is being sent to the board of supervisors and an addition to this letter, we are asking the board of supervisors to ask as a whole for Mitchell and Hopkins to step down. The supervisors must seize this moment to correct the ills they have seen created right before their eyes, Their inaction has caused the county a great deal of grief, and it is just the beginning of the pain.
 

Ringen, great comment about Rivero and I also agree. I had no problem with him except his long response time. But that was not unusual for a deputy patrolling the largest beat in the county, at night during your first year.

We value straight think individuals such as yourself, the sheriff has for many years left a program unmanned which helps to serve the eldery. We continue to question the integrity of the supervisors who do nothing, who say nothing, and who appear to see nothing. We have and this is dating ourselves 5 Sgt. schultz's from the old stalag 13 show. You are SO's who have lived the life, you know of the up's and downs of law enforcement in this county. The difficulties and the joy's. We believe your importance to Frank and his campaign to remove sheriff Mitchell is founded on rights and the need for fair play and justice, and your understandings of the proper way to be a cop. We want to make very clear we support law enforcement to the fullest extent, for its positive influence it can have on our county and the great and difficult job you have performed in the line of duty. You are mustangs you came from the ground up, you have seen difficult times in the line of duty and we want to recognize that and acknowledge you for it. As well to the good officers currently in the force the time will come when Mitchell and Hopkins will be gone, and your career's will become a far greater joy to you then you currently are experiencing. Beland is a good cop, he was turning on Mitchell, Mitchell and Garzoli ganged up on Beland and since he was going to turn on Mitchell he got rid of him. We defend Beland, we know of his current situation, do not be surprised if you see Beland testify aganist Mitchell in the coming lawsuit. We believe he will return to the county he loves and cares for. We wish him good luck in what are now very difficut times.
